I liked playing my Guardian in AoC before it was nerfed to death.

I feel like playing something with a similar character. Maybe taking about longer to kill things, but being able to hold up against several foes at once.

Not really, World of Warcraft has pretty much killed the MMO genre for a few generations.

I stopped playing WoW years ago. I can't get past how dated it looks.

Jumpegate Evolution is due out June 9th and Darkfall is in beta which I think you can join if you pre-order.

Not much else besides that.

Scratch Drakfall off your list then.

Scratch this one also. developer is going bankrupt and cannot sell the idea.
Mortal online? I really don't know about this one but seems to be the last hope.

Warhammer was enjoyable for a few months but I got tired of it and the community quickly. Personally I'm sitting on the sidelines until SWTOR comes out. Really hope Bioware pulls of a decent sci-fi mmo as I'm tired of fantasy.

I went from my Priest of Mitra in AOC to a Zealot in Warhammer, but now I'm back to Lord of the Rings Online.

LOTRO is worth playing if you are into MMOs for a couple of reasons:
1) Reasonably mature community, and lots of mature kinships.
2) Relatively stable classes. Nerfs are relatively minor tweaks compared to AoC for example.
3) Good combat. There's still the holy trinity (guardians, minstrels, DPS) but a lot of the other classes are hybrids that can cover multiple roles and pretty much any two classes make a good duo combo if you play to their strengths.
4) Graphics still scale extremely well with current hardware. I don't see much of a difference in DX10, but when you turn textures and draw distance all the way up the game will make full use of a GTX295.
5) Legendary Item system, Traits/Deeds, and endgame raids provide a lot of content if you are a completionist.

Downsides:
1) If you liked the PvP in AoC then you'll find it lacking in LOTRO. Their "PvP" is strictly humans vs. humans playing as monsters. You can duel 1v1, but nothing larger than that.
2) If you're a hardcore gamer then you will eventually run out of content. It will take you a while, however, if you are starting from scratch and you'll probably consider the positive on the balance.

played the Chinese beta of this. Well worth waiting for, looked great and the combat was varied unlike in most MMO's. Also you get WINGS at level 10 and can fight while flying, pure awesomeness.

Yeah I've been keeping up on it with the American forums for the game. It looks promising from all the gameplay videos I've seen. I don't mind if it takes longer for the American version as long as it's a quality product in the end.

I really enjoyed LoTRO but my Dwarven Champion hi level 60 in under a month. I had ran every end game instance in Hard Mode except The Watcher and lead many instances. Had a lvl 59 Champions Mace of the Second Age with Fervour Bonus, AoE Bonus and Rend Bleed Damage by the end of my second month with over 40 Gold.

A hardcore player will blast through LoTRO. Its well populated, extremely fun game which offers replayability value but lacking in PVP and end-game content.

yea the gameplay is a nice change from standard button mashing, I mean there is still a bit of that but having combo/chain skills that can be chained 5 skills long make for some interesting fights. Also I'm not sure why it is taking so long to bring over to the U.S. the Chinese version is going live in about a week, and when i was playing I had an english language file that worked flawlessly, everything was working and in english from quest text to skill tooltips so I don't think it will take too long for it to be released over here.

I've been playing the English translation of the Chinese open beta also.. it's been a blast so far. Sad it ends today as it goes live the 16th.

I am currently playing EVE however I am going over to City of Heroes during my downtimes because of the new patch. Its akin to having Never Winter Nights built into the game where you can make your own mission arcs and share them with the rest of the player base.

Its pretty epic, and Ncsoft has made a lot of new classes that are really fun to play.

yea there didn't seem to be a big problem with grinding etc. considering i played for maybe 4-8 hours total and got past level 10 pretty quickly, and my friends who were playing had the game for less than 4 days and were already up to level 20-25. Doesn't seem like too much of a grind really. I seemed to level faster than I did playing original WoW.

Yeah I think I've been waiting for this game since summer of last year.... hopefully the open beta will be available by this summer to try out and ready to buy this fall.
