Any new tech coming for laptops soon?

I keep gearing up to get a gaming laptop, but still have not yet gotten around to it. Any new techs coming out around the corner that I should wait for? Either CPU wise (seems one should go with I7), GPU wise (NVIDIA 960 or 970 way to go?), or screen wise?

Now: external GPU's. Freesync/Gsync
In a few months: next process node. Might be a year though before it's pushed out to mobile.

Are any worth waiting for? Dunno.

NVIDIA has an event coming up May 6th, so you might see new mobile GPUs then (though I suspect the focus is on desktop cards).

Besides that: Intel's Kaby Lake architecture is showing up in the second half of the year (hopefully sooner than later). 4K displays are already a thing, so I'd mostly expect them to be more commonplace... and hopefully, less likely to kill your battery.

Any ideas when the M versions of the 10 series cards will release? Did the M versions of the 9 series cards release with significant delay compared to the desktop Pc cards?

At this point you should wait for a 14nm gpu. The largest benefit of this node shrink should be towards notebooks. Polaris 11 is small so hopefully the market will be flooded with $800 notebooks with close to 970m performance at 950m power levels.
