Are there any new video cards on the way from nVidia or ATI and if so when are they suppose to be out? Mainly concerned with single GPU.

That would be the GT200b core and that will be 55nm.

Its all over the internet. Where have you been?
The only thing we know for sure is that it will be 55nm. If you want to start digging into the many rumors, then we have:

(GTX260+)
216 stream processors
896MB GDDR5
Still 448bit memory bus

None of this is officially confirmed or denied however.

I guess since it isn't being talked about much, people may think that it's not gonna happen. Who knows. The tech world has been full of surprises lately.
Nvidia does need to go to 55nm as soon as possible though.

keys, they haven't given you a heads up on an eta or, um, at least hint? Maybe a hint that you could pass on to your hardworking AT breathren?

well, the ETA for the 55nm G200 was supposedly, what, 7 days ago? that date has obviously been missed. but no new one has been given yet.

Clearly they are wrong

it is not immediately in the pipeline

none of the partner's reps would acknowledge it as "ready" last week but they are all aware of it

so they are "on the way"

i'd say expect them when the 1GB 4870 is fully out ... and logically - unlike what the article says, we can expect the OC models to be stock clocks - there is plenty of headroom in the 260 and nvidia set its core too low imo

i hear gt200b has faster core/shader ratio. core clock is the same, but shader ratio goes back to 2.5x (same as g80 thru g96) - will run cooler. also heard about gtx260+ 55nm with the extra shader cluster unlocked.

then theres 4850x2 and the R710 & rv730 low-end ati cards too.

Well that's a disappointment if we see a 55nm GTX 260 and not a 55nm GTX 280....the 280 has all the more reason to be on 55nm and we have seen the threads on this forum about the high failure rates- you'd think they want to get the 280 to 55nm ASAP...at least that's what I'm hoping as it's what I am holding out for.

Same here...if they don't re-release the 280 in 55nm, I'll just wait until the next release.

don't worry .. the GT280 is going to make it to 55nm .. just not next week

forget 280x2 - but a 55nm 260 sandwich is actually likely odds on to beat the 4870x2.

Nvidia isn't saying much about the new 280; but you know they will ramp it up as high as they can while saving money on the cheaper process and it should be way faster than the OC'd 4870/1GB

actually .. deep down, i think Nvidia is going to have a single-core 290+ "Ultra" to *also* take on the X2; with massive bandwidth, a highly OC'd selected core and 1GB superfast GDDR5 .. $549 if it matches, $599 if it beats it .. and $650 if they get lucky; i dunno where their own 260+x2 is gonna fit

Will it be awhile before this is released? Just wondering if I should upgrade to a 4870 from a 3870.

The GTX 4000. With a four ghz processor and 30gb of active memory, over nine trillion transistors and enough heat to melt an aluminum case. It consumes approximately 800w Idle, is three feet long, and takes up the space of four extension slots. It'll retail for $1,350 and will be about 19% faster then the GTX 290.
Also to note, is the Radeon All in Wonder 6870 Deluxe. It's got twenty Processors, all dual core, with a rocking 92billion shaders, a load wattage of 1400 and the ability to create children. It'll retail for $1,600 and won't work with any drivers till the year 2010.
These cards are both set to release yesterday and have already been discontinued.

I'll take my chances on the 6870. After all, it makes children. My girlfriend would be awfully pleased.

Yeah, she's that kind of girl.

Well that makes me happier....did you eaves drop on any pre-release GTX280 55nm talk while you were at Nvision?
