Any of you give blood regularly? Found out I'm O-

Interesting to see the range here and those who donate vs those who don't. I didn't realize there were different types of donations, I figured you could just go in every few weeks and give some blood, but the red cross is telling me to come every 2 months. I suppose I'll look into the other types of donations as well. I've been a vegetarian for about a year and a half and expected to get low iron, seeing as they have a high requirement, but was fine to my surprise. I also felt fine the entire time, I had barely eaten anything and scarfed down a banana and muffin prior to going in after realizing it was probably pretty important to have food in me.

Because I'm O- I guess I'll be going whenever I can for the next while, cheers to all of you who also donate!

Lord help me if I go more than 6 weeks without donating. The red cross will blow up my phone day after freaking day. It's been 8 weeks since I donated and, I kid you not, the Red Cross called me Friday, Saturday, and Monday

The New York Blood Center would hit my father up like that (he's O-). He'd give blood and like a week later they'd call up harassing him telling him he needed to come in to donate. He'd explain he just donated, they'd apologize and then they'd call him again the next week. It got so bad that he had to tell them that if they kept calling him he was going to stop donating. I guess they really need O-, but come on.

If you are concerned about that, then donate to the Red Cross. They are non-profit.

Two weeks for Plasma
Two months for whole blood

I have about 15+ gallons donated since starting via the USAF

Cut back when it started affecting My love life in the shower w/ the wife

I've given plasma a few times but no blood. Needles and my veins don't get along well. I myself have no problem with needles, blood, fainting, etc., but my veins don't like to part with my blood

Everyone's talking about the Red Cross calling (which they do). Not hospitals.

Donated once, I'm AB+ so my whole blood is, for the most part, useless to anyone that isn't AB+. However, my plasma is a universal donor type. I've been meaning to start donating plasma, but haven't had the time lately. Definitely something I need to do.

Plasma takes more time to donate (1hr vs 20 min) and can be done more frequently

O+ and donated pretty regularly when my work place was close to a donation center. Now that I am working 10 miles away from it, it's not such a quick in-n-out experience, so I don't do it as often.

Besides, they were kinda upset with my blackjack and hookers history the last time I was there
