Any one from Fresno, CA ?

Hello all,
My girlfriend and I are moving to fresno . I am just about to graduate here and I dont have a lot of time to scope out the place and look for housing before we move there. Can some one from around there suggest an area to live in ? I will be moving shortly after to san francisco so I am a bit worried about safety for my girlfirnd who will have to live there for 3 years. She will start work at the downtown area but she wont mind driving a bit if there are safer locations. Oh yeah, forgot to mention that we will have about $500-600 for a one bedroom apartment.

Sorry, don't mean to sound insensitive, but even Frezburg is gonna cost ya more than that, and in San Fran, you're looking at $1500+ for a decent place.

I have several friends who live there, and most live in either Clovis, or Friant (NE part) of town.
I live aobut 100 miles north of Fresno, and rents are pretty high. Fresno is worse than where I'm at.

1500 is about right for a 1 bedroom in SF

in fresno, you can find a 1 bedroom for that much (maybe a little more)

Fresno is the armpit of California. Or was that Bakersfield? Anyways.....he should be able to find something for $600 in Fresno.

BoomerD thanks for those links. Yeah, I know SF is expensive and I expect to pay around $1500 for a decent place. I am asking about housing in " fresno". I dont mind paying a bit more but i thought that was abt the average price for a 1 BR, safety is our primary concern. Do you all have any reccommendations on whcih part of freso/clovis.

Well I'm in Visalia. I pay $800 for a 3BR 2BR place which is in a nice part of town, so you should be able to find something.

A good place to start.

Apts. in Clovis. I lived in Clovis for 17 years. It's a nice town to live in. :thumbsup:

Fresno is the armpit and Bakerfield is the butthole. You should be able to find something for that cheap but if you want to stay safe youll probably have to apy a little more (as you would anywhere). In a couple years, the prices should come down though.
