yes, works well, its like an android device with multiple apps that you can watch streams from asia. Get the real one, don't trust some of the online dealers.. they reflash firmware from new units to old one and it f- up some of the features or you get like mac address errors, etc.

some stream are in hd, some are not in

You'll need a fast internet connection and it is highly recommended you have an uncapped internet connection. My mom has it on almost all day long.

My recommendation is TVPad 2 since it uses the same processor as TVPad 3. The difference between the two is the latest gen adds the ability to do VOIP but that requires additional hardware anyways. TVPad 2 is cheaper.

The biggest downside is the buffering period when you switch channels.

Another downside is there is no consistency to the UI of these "channels" which are really streaming apps. A streaming app may contain multiple channels and there's no rhyme or reason to how they're designed.

I have the TVPad2 for a year now and it is on almost daily for at least 6 to 8 hours. If you don't have fast internet, you will notice everything (download, browsing) is much slower if the TVPad is on.

So far it has been running great and hasn't broke yet.. (cross fingers) The 2 years plan is good only for peace of mind. However, late last years a few of their channels were hacked. If you try to watch those Chinese channels you would got the channel not accessible message. Took them a day to fix it and was the only hack I have ever experienced.

I can haz free TVpad?

This thread is weird. Was surprised when I noticed you guys actually had a sizable number of posts here.

If it is bogging down a modern high-speed internet connection, their compression must suck. Surely a large number of people here stream Netflix in HD while using their connection for other purposes and have no issues. I know that's the case with me.

It looks like you're paying way more than the device is worth simply to stream from the company's servers for 'free.' That device can't cost them 20 bucks to make...it is less fully-featured than a $75 Blu-ray player (newer wifi models are generally all set up to stream from Netflix, Hulu, and the like). And reviews saying it works better wired than wireless would imply is must be one awfully crappy wireless chipset...it's not like 54Mbps is some kind of bottleneck. Also compositve video wtf?

Don't know why I'm reading Amazon reviews for a 'Asian TV player' or whatever other than I'm bored and can't sleep...

It's about getting a relatively no fuss Android Box that can stream all those Asian channels. It's not about cost of productions, there is more value to it then that.

For older generation Asian folks this is a god send, as after the initial investment all you need is bandwidth.

I would compare this with Apple TV.

I have no use for it personally as I don't watch that much Asian programming.
