oh man you won't regret getting a canon. a few years ago they used to suck, but now they've really pulled their act together. I got an s600 ( discontinued) a while ago for $120....shoots text out faster than any laser I've ever seen, while at the same time looking like a laser, plain-paper gfx are fast and beautiful, and the best part: it prints 4x6 photos that look like 4x6 photos in 30secs!

I did some research before buying a new cordless about 4 months back and every review I found (including Consumer Reports)said that there wasn't any noticeable difference between the 800Mhz phones and the 2 Ghz sound wise. I ended up getting a 2 Ghz phone because the price + rebate made it cheaper and it looked kinda cool too. Now I have a Uniden 2Ghz and a V-Tech 800Mhz in my house and I must admit, I can't tell the difference either. I would say if your house is huge, and you go outside a lot with the phone sure, get the 2 Ghz. For some strange reason I ended up with 2 cordless phones in my house and I can't tell the difference and have never needed to take both down the street to see which loses signal first.

I have a Panasonic 2.4 Ghz phone, digital spread-them spectrum, and I can leave my house and walk to the nearest intersection without losing any sound quality.

How well do 2.4ghz DSS phones and 802.11 play together? Would the DSS phone create too much interference when in use?

I have the 2.4Ghz DDS V-Tech 2431 with three additional handsets. It has never interfered with my SMC Wireless Barricade.

My panasonic phone sometimes interferes with my DLink wireless router, but changing the channel on the phone fixes it..... they should make it easier to change the channel on the stupid WiFi card/router....it's supposed to find the best channel automatically, but it's not as fast as my and my hot little finger!!
