Remind me why we like the HTC One? I wasn't very impressed but now I'm uncertain of my assessment in the face of the combined intellect of MD&G.

It's got a 720p 4.7" Super LCD screen, Tegra 3 (i.e. quad core SoC), 32 GB built-in storage, NFC, and a few other nice features such as an 8 MP camera capable of 1080p recording and Beats Audio that a few forum goers might be interested in.

It's easily the best phone that HTC has had in a while and might actually allow them to be competitive again since they've been in a bit of a sales slump over the last year.

Those are the specs of the HTC One X in Europe, however in the US, the AT&T model has a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 with built-in LTE.

But T-Mobile gets the HTC One S, which has a smaller 4.3" qHD display, 16GB of storage, and again, the Qualcomm S4.

I thought all the phones were going to SuperAMOLED these days.
Who has a good run down comparing the technologies?

AMOLED is the best kind of display when it comes to colors. LCD is better for outdoor viewing(RGBW Pentile LCD being the best outdoor display usability wise there is but not very many phones use it unfortunately). SuperLCD looks pretty similar to AMOLED and has similar pros and cons.

Which is better for battery life?
Is one particularly more efficient?

That's really tricky to say but in my experience standard LCD is. That is to say of my past phones, ones with LCD screens lasted longer than ones with AMOLED screens. The problem with that is there's a lot more differences between the phones than just the screens so it could be coincidence.

AMOLED does have an inherent advantage where it takes no juice at all to display black. So if you use dark backgrounds or colors or themes it uses less power than it normally would.

I read somewhere that a typical AMOLED screen uses essentially no power when displaying black, but ~3x as much as LCD when displaying all white.

I'd like a reminder as well, the One is the midrange phone in their new lineup.

For T-Mobile, not sure anything good is coming out soon. There is a rumor the HTC One X could come to T-Mobile, but right now it's only announced for AT&T. So it could be a long time before T-Mobile gets it.

HTC One S is coming to T-Mobile. If you like the 4.3 inch size and don't mind the lesser resolution, then it looks like a nice phone.

Rumor has it the LG Optimus 4X could arrive on T-Mobile as the G4X. I like this phone a lot, because it has a larger battery (which I hope is removable) and it has micro SD. The camera isn't as nice as the HTC One X (or One S), if that's important to you. But zero word on when or if it really is coming to T-Mobile.

Carriers are so slow, even with phones being announced this spring like the One X and LG Optimus 4X, god only knows when the carriers will have them available.

For T-Mobile, the Galaxy S 2 looks like it's still your only good option. Or even better the Galaxy Nexus GSM if you want to pay full price and maybe try out T-Mobile's Monthly4G prepaid plan.

I generally like HTC.
I have dropped and broken my phone twice, and HTC has quickly repaired it for me, and only charged me something like $40, and that only once for the initial repair. Their Customer service and warranty repair is excellent, because they could have easily said that my dropping the phone was not covered.

I'm pretty sure One S is mid end, and then there's a low end phone. 4.3" with dual core is not low end by any means... lol. I'm pretty sure MANY people who feel uncomfortable with a 4.7" phone will go to a 4.3" phone.
