It's big, but I learned to stop looking at it as a phone. Its a laptop, a GPS, a mp3 player, camera, hd camcorder, mobile media center, and hey I can make calls on it. I have all that and I don't even need to carry a phone anymore. It's tiny if you change your perspective. Helps if you are a big person too. I can conceal a X in my palm, so its a natural size for me. I couldn't use a touch only interface on a smaller device.

Screen is still too small to be a laptop, but I agree with most everything else.

Hmm, it seems I could get a Droid 2 from that wirefly site for 10$ (129 for droid X). Basically has a smaller screen worse camera and a keyboard (I like the keyboard on my current phone). Say I wanted to run a nes emulator or some such can the droid x do that decently or would the keyboard really be important? Still a few days before I can order my new phone : (

I would get the Droid 2 over the Droid X in a heartbeat, even if the price were equal, personally.

The 2 is definitely better for gaming. It's very troublesome to try and play any emulator game on a touch screen phone that requires a bunch of buttons to be pressed at once. Example being Mario: direction, run, and jump buttons must be pressed all at once sometimes which is really annoying to do on a touch screen.

Yes emulators suck without physical buttons. I play tons of emulated games on my phones which has a keyboard and it makes it so much easier.

Argh, So if I got it through that wirefly site I'd have to get a verizon plan (currently on an alltel one). It'd cost me 15 dollars more a month until I could downgrade the plan without penalty in 6 months and then it'd be about the same for less of a plan than I have now. Verizon site implies I could keep my current plan upgrading through them, but then it's ~100 more to upgrade T.T

Argh still not here

I've been reading a lot. I'm one of those people who uses a different browser for google searching and maps while I am signed into gmail because I'm weary of how much info the big g will have on me. It seems when I get this phone, U won't have much of a choice though, especially as maps/navigation is one of the main reasons I'm getting it.

Along those lines, it lead me to read about what happens when you add your google account because I was worried it would automatically pull all my contacts, not just "My Contacts" the same way gmail automatically saves any address you interact with. It seems that my feeling was right - https://supportforums.motorola.com/thread/33325?start=15&tstart=0

Not only does it apparently pull all google contacts but any account you add (facebook, twitter, etc) as well. It seems like a huge mess, have you guys had to deal with it? Is it a Blur thing? Am I going to get pulled into the ROM world earlier than I planned?

The contacts system is one of the more important things for me on a phone like this and the ideal implementation would work well with each account and give the user control over what is added into the phones list. I certainly don't want to scroll through hundreds of facebook contacts I never call. Ugh, guess I better clean up my gmail contacts at least.

Ballatician - I think that was fixed. There are options now as to what contacts get pulled from where.

yeah, google employees think iphone is better:

Your iPhone trolling really needs some work.

I bet there are employees at Apple that use Android phones, just like there's employees at Google that use iPhones, and people at Microsoft that use them too.

I guess you're right though...the personal opinion of one person - who specializes in Geographical and Local Services - should be all you need to make a decision on whay phone to get
