Any reason to not get Grado SR60 headphones?

Grado SR60s are about $60. The HD497s are about $70

For music and Gaming (what else is there?)

For gaming they would be jacked in to the on board sound. Maybe an Audigy2 in the near future.
For music they will plug into a Yamaha Receiver

A headphone amp is not in the budget, the headphones aren't really either, but you have to respect others. especially at 2:00am playing CoD2

I've read that some of the Grado sets aren't the most comfortable you can get. (I've heard the same about my own HD280s)

If you can get out and do a demo at a local retailer that would give you a good idea of how they will sound / feel.

i have the SR80s which are one step up for the 60s sonically but look the same.
i agree they are not that comfortable when using for long periods of time....the foam part doesnt seem to stick out far enough so the speaker part of the headset presses against my ears.

sound wise, they are quite good (which i'm sure applies to the SR60s as well) but be warned...i would say these headphones are nice because they are very transparent..ie if your source is not good, you will hear it. they may seem very bass-light to some people as well.

overall, i'd say they may be overkill for gaming but quite nice for music.

cambridge soundworks at the mall have them displayed so you can always listen and see how they feel for yourself.

I just got a pair of Sennheiser px-100s the other day for use w/ my Nano.. cuz ear buds suck. - they were only $43.99 so I figured they'd be marginally good but nothing incredible. They're incredible. Seriously, they sound amazing!
