Any router company with a non-crappy warranty?

I'm beyond frustrated with Netgear.. Will NEVER buy a product of theirs again... Is there any company out there that makes quality routers and actually supports their products? I just had to pay $16 to get a DEFECTIVE $40 router replaced ("shipping and processing charges") and am getting a refurb in return!! That's insane and I will never consider a netgear product again.... Is there a "microsoft keyboads/mice" of the networking field (microsoft has been awesome with their warranties- my mouse broke and they sent me a new one, my keyboard's USB port went out and they sent me a new one for free.. that's just awesome)...

Not necessarily. Their 802.11b wireless router, the MN-500, only has a 2 year warranty on it. (According to the manual) Their warranty on mice is due to mice being non-disposable or some odd reason. They're relatively new to the networking department (it's someone else's equipment anyway, with the MS nametag on it)

I'd personally go with Microsoft or maybe Linksys out of the big name manufacturers.

Does microsoft's networking products have the same awesome warranty though (if it breaks they ship you a replacement as long as you have proof of ownership) or is it a watered down warranty? Two years is fine with me as long as I don't have to get a broken product replaced

D-Link has lifetime warranties... at least in Canada. Not sure about US.

I would go with Microsoft or Linksys ... my Microsoft MN-500 wireless router has a total of 3 years warranty coverage. 2 years manufacturer's warranty plus 1 year VISA (FREE) = 3 years

By then I'm sure I would have upgraded to 802.11g or something better, faster and cheaper.

Oh ok sure, just repeat what I said I think I paid for mine with an AMEX card, but like you said, I figure in 3 years anyway something better will have come out.

freedom - I honestly don't know. I haven't had any issues with the hardware so no RMA/warranty replacement yet.

Thanks man, my next router WILL be a microsoft.. Hell, I'll buy whatever hardware they make in the future (other than forn mice - Logitech has been great, replacing my mx700 2 times so far)..

Just curious - not trying to insult you or anything - but how can you call Netgear crap when you've had to RMA a Logitech mouse twice? My Logitech mouse died after a short 2 years of using it and since then all my KB/mouse hardware that I have purchased has been strictly Microsoft, with nothing but good luck.

But the router is excellent. My only complaints about it - no option to turn off Auto Broadcast, and it's been rated (I can verify) that file transfers aren't quite as fast as other wireless routers. (Assuming you're going wireless)

My advice is stay far far away from SMC wireless routers, I bought mine based on recommendations and it's a POS.

Well, this is over like 3 years or something... My first logitech wireless mouse died on me and they replaced it with the superior mx700... Then I poured water on the thing last year and broke it myself... I even told the tech that it was my fault yet she still sent me a replacement (I was hoping that they'd fix it for a few bucks).. I've had bad luck with microsoft mice- the laser died on two of them.. My microsoft keyboard's USB ports also died on me.. They were all quickly replaced but I just prefer logitech to MS..I'm typing on a MS keyboard right now and have nothing against MS.. My rants is about NETGEAR, not MS...

A good router company is a free one. I've been using Freesco for three years and have never looked back. It's been on two diff't pc's since then----Too bad I can't buy a wireless add-on for it. Personally I like Linksys. Have never had a problem with the router I put in at my in-laws for them
