I purchased my Sanyo BP-5 chipset based cd burner drive in Feb 2002 and have had nothing but problems burning with it under Windows XP. The drive always would hang when writing the lead-out on full cds and would take up to 15 minutes to burn a cd (this is unacceptable at 24x) after doing some digging i found the answer. the Firmware the first couple batches these drives shipped with dosnt work well with XP (I was getting like 160+ buffer underrun errors when burning cds). here is the official sanyo firmware page for this drive.. http://www.digital-sanyo.com/BURN-Proof/downloads/downloads-bp5.html after reflashing my drive it now lays down an 80 minute cd in 4 minutes with zero buffer underrun even while doing multiple tasks on my computer. Also make sure your SCSI bios has domain validation turned OFF.
