I just bought a 4GB PQI SD card, and when I popped it in, windows XP prompted me to format it before I could access it. Strangely in the format window it showed the capacity as only 955MB. I thought it might be the card reader I was using (generic PCMCIA) so I tried another reader, and several others (2usb, 1 dedicated laptop SD card slot), and they all displayed the same thing. So I formatted the card anyway to FAT32, but alas, it shows 955MB now. When I went into Disk Management in Windows, it shows that the card has 955MB as 'New Volume' in FAT32, and it shows 2.80GB 'Unallocated'. I don't know why windows refuses to format the entire thing. I tried partition magic to combine these partitions (if they are even partitions), but it only does hard drives apparently. Is there anyway I can delete these seemingly 2 separate partitions and reformat the card?
