So glad my wife and I decided to stay in Burlington for the night. r/Boston is horror story after horror story of insane traffic going back to Boston.

Drove 40 miles north to get 3 minutes of totality, and very few clouds the whole time (just thin ones I could see through).

I saw it in upper Maine in an area that has an 81% cloudy history over the last ten years. Had absolutely clear skies-not even a trace of cloud all day long. Temperature near sixty but about six inches of snow/slush on the ground so as the eclipse progressed it got quite clear.

First totality I saw and the first with an honest pair of solar glasses (very, very important). No eye fatigue or problems whatsoever. The hour of so of eclipse prior to totality seemed to pass super quickly. Would put the glasses on, take a look, take them off and repeat in a couple of minutes. I was with a crowd of strangers gathered in a muddy parking lot outside a permanently closed bait shop full of a crowd of (former) strangers-it was one of the funniest and nicest parties I've been to ever, especially because no substances other than excitement was involved.

The moment when totality was achieved and the solar glasses abandoned can't be described. I'm a senior and this the first solar eclipse I've seen and I'm totally converted. No pics because I suck at them and rarely take pics-I go for personal memories instead.

No where to stay for us, and the 3.5 hour drive back took more like ten plus. Still a price well worth paying.

PS: We passed on Burlington but my BIL went . Maybe a 3.5 drive to, way more than ten back-they got home at 1:30AM. But even they say they would do it again in a heartbeat.

We had clouds as well in DFW. But God parted the skies for us ...not completely... but just enough for good long clear peeps between the high thin clouds. ⛅️

At times you did not even need 😎 because the clouds were so thick. Then suddenly...clear skies...then clouds.. then clear...etc

The eclipse imagery was so strong in my mind last night I had a dream that a dim red sun appeared at night then disintegrated into particles like fireworks.

What the sun was doing hanging around at night is beyond me.

When I lived in Lousiana in the mid 80s I rode that stretch of pavement as far West into Texass and East all the way to Ft WB & PC in Florida.

135 mph across the Lake Ponchartrain bridge on a Honda CBX was a trip. Dropping a valve on my FXSB outside of Lake Charles heading off shift Thanksgiving eve sucked!!

Don’t get out of a broken down car over the Achafalaya bayou bridge at night, cher.

My vision has gotten better since Monday. I'm now just about able to drive without my contacts in.

yeah that's what it kinda feels like, sand in my eyes. and tiredness, they feel better after i close them.

a guy i know also used his eclipse glasses (bought from a legit place, a local museum) yet still had the same effect as me, tired and itchy eyes.

maybe we are just getting used to the sunlight after sitting inside all winter.

Even with the glasses I would be reluctant to stare at it the entire time it's happening, best to give your eyes a break just in case there are still a small amount harmful radiation coming through. For the last one I was using #14 welding glass but I'd only glance through for a few seconds at a time.

Yeah, it's kinda crazy. About April 1 I checked on prospective weather in the total eclipse path. The further south and west you went in Texas gave you the best chances. I decided that visiting my cousin in upstate New York wasn't good odds. Finally, when the weekend came they said northern Maine was the best place.

I decided to depend on my imagination. Really, I've heard so much about it imagining the experience isn't that tough. Now just imagine that what you imagined actually happened to you. Voila!
