any stores still sell guaranteed overclockers?

You'll have to excuse me but I've been out of the proverbial loop since I last bought a cpu (P3-733, which should give you a rough time frame ) and I remember a few overclocker friendly vendors used to list the stepping of the chips they were selling and some even sold guaranteed overclockers (for a premium of course). I was wondering if anything like this is still around today, specifically for the P4 2.0ghz?

Only one I know of is Newegg.com's deal for AthlonXP1600+, they sell specific AGOIA cores now. Almost a guaranteed 1.7-1.8ghz.

On NewEgg , about 2/3rd's down the page, there is an XP1900+ AGOGA for $ 95 , Free Freight - that has a link (in PINK) to the overclocking data that supports this CPU. It's not 'Guaranted', but implies that this special is an Overclockers answer to a prayer to the CyberGods !

Yep. Newegg is the way to go, but they will not "guarantee" it. Overclocking has so much more to do with the processor itself nowadays that it's only feasable to sell a CPU/RAM/Mobo combo to truely guarantee it.

A better way to look at it is:
If you grab one of Newegg's XP 1600+'s you can be assured it will hit 2100+ speeds (1750ish) with quality supporting components.

So far, All my newegg XP 1600's will do 10.5 x 166 on a mobo with 1/5th divider.

Its not guaranteed... but...

With a good motherboard, and memory, unless you have the worse luck ever, i'd say anyone could hit 1.7ghz.
