i built my friend a pretty screaming machine and now his parents wanted me to make them one now they are goona pay me 50 bucks, so thats cool. the budget is 1400 bucks and with shipping, thats about what it comes to. any changes?

they arnt gamers so dont go bitchin about the video card or whatever. the 4200 is a very good bang for your buck card and will run any game out there. no "for 50 more bucks you could......" please

im a n00b to LCD monitors. im open to suggestions on the monitor especially HERE

After you share with others, find your wishlist on the database by clicking "more info" at the bottom, then search for yours by typing in what you saved it as in "title:".

Looks nice. As for LCDs, I'd check out Cnet right here. Looks like the Samsung syncmaster 151S is a good buy. I dont exactly like Cnet the best, but I'd trust them for display especially since they review so many.

I have a question for you, is that Asus DVD writer any good? I've been thinking about getting a DVD burner for a while now.

how much can u spend on the LCD? If the Dell website gets up and working so you can login, they 're having a Fire Sale on LCD's. Have u checked out the Hot Deals Forum.?

i bought 2 Planars PL-190's yesterday for $455/each incl tax Dell's small business division charges tax in most states but they're having Fire sale ,but right now it's not working cause u can't login. It's 15% off + an auto 15% + 5% e-mail coupon, U can get some good 17' and prolly 18' LCD for under $400.

Or the Deal could be dead. Overstock has refurbished Gateway FPD 1830 LCD for $362.50 shipped w/10% off coupon. Has DVI too. I got one last week, I think it looks great, It's bright ,, brighter than my 21' CRT. 30 -day warranty only, specs
Overstock Limited Inventory!

Its sounds like you don't want to change the video card, but even if they aren't going to game, then get a Radeon 8500 or 9100 or 9200 card. It will have much better 2D quality. Actually, for even more 2D quality, look into a Matrox card. Here is what I would get in that price range:

Asus P4P800 $109
Pentium4 2.4C Retail $178
Antec Sonata $105 - For a nice quiet system, otherwise get the case you picked
1 Vantec Fan 92mm for that Sonata - $13 shipped at googlegear.com, if you keep your case, then don't get this
Floppy $6.50
Western Digital 80GB 8MB $82
RAM $96 - no change
Monitor $379 - no change
Mouse - $21 No change
XP Home - $93
Same Speakers $14
$100 Radeon or Matrox (For price figuring, you find one you want)

Thats $1196.50

You can get the 2.6C for $50 more onto that, you can find a nice wireless keyboard in $50, bringing it to $1296.50 approximately. That system will be quieter with the Sonata. Obviously, this is without a DVD burner. Do they really need the DVD burner? I would just get a CDRW.

That Sony monitor sounds fishy. It only supports 1024x768, that's the first time I heard a 17" lcd not doing 1280x1024. Check out the hotdeals forum like shootfor3 said. This time it really is a HOT deal.

Why not get the Epox 8RDA+ instead of the Asus, that will save you $30.
