Any suggestions on a 2560x1600 KVM?

I have a Dell U3011 that I would like to share (along with wireless keyboard/mouse) between my work laptop using displayport, and my personal pc using dual link DVI. One of the machines will end up with an adapter on it (dp to dual dvi or vice versa) so I can use either a displayport or dual link DVI KVM.

Any suggestions? An IOGear on Newegg had decent reviews, but if I'm dropping $350 on a KVM I thought I should do some research. Hopefully someone has been through this before.

Why not utilize the fact that the U3011 has separate display inputs and just plug both computers directly into the display? Then you can get whatever cheap USB KVM you want and just not use the video part. It'll be a little more work to change inputs (two button presses versus one), but will save you a ton of cash.

I was going to do that, but either I have a bad unit or the U3011 is a pain in the butt to switch inputs on. If I happen to undock or shut down the laptop and then try and switch back to the desktop I constantly get the power saving message and have to spend forever hitting the menu button before it actually lets me bring up the input choices.

I do have a stuck blue pixel right in the middle right of the screen so maybe I'll get a new unit that doesn't have the same issue when switching away from a input that is powered off.


Brutus, although I've used raritans at one of my last jobs to get to consoles in a remote datacenter (after we upgraded firmware 6 times to get everything working) they don't appear to have anything that supports a high resolution display.

How will that fix a stuck pixel or are they different thought strains linked together in one sentence?
