any thoughts on this car?

I checked this car out on Autotrader and found out that the seller lives about 25 minutes from my house and in my old neighborhood, so naturally I'm going to take a look. Before I do, however, I would like to get your opinions on the car.

Mid-90's were some of the most problem prone years for Nissan & those cars arn't very desirable even taking that into account... $7000 is far too high a price.

Is it just me or do the back wheels look like they have LOTS of curb rash? Front conversion looks ok. At least everything lines up well enough. Price is too high though since there's no real mechanical upgrades. I'd just check it well to see if there's any major repair work on the body.

That's what I was thinking... I like the 95-98 240's.. moreso the 97/98..

I spent hte last two weeks looking for a S14 240SX as well....a CLEAN 98 model year got away from me...and I've only been able to find crappy 95s that are either autos (!!!) or beat up high mileage 5-spds....or ones that have the SR swapped into them.

Still searching for hte perfect one, again.

regarding the one you listed, I personally wouldn't buy a modified car. So just make sure whatever mods he did, he did them correctly using the right parts. You don't want the car having a suspension fialure cause hte car was lowerd too much and wore out the bushings or strut mounts or what have you.

Should have clarified... compared to other Japanese cars & compared to earlier Nissan's they had some issues from roughly 1994 to 1999 and only Mitsubishi did worse in frequency of repair .. if you compare to American & European cars from the same years they are ok, but $7000 is still way too much for a 10 year old 240sx!

Just their fit and finish which was (and still is) surpassed even by 1980's Chryslers...

I have been substantially un-impressed with my parents' Maxima ('98 SE). It's not all that fast, it's uncomfortable to sit in, the interior bits are made of the cheapest plastics this side of a Geo, pieces rattle and squeek, and it doesn't handle very well. In every category except acceleration it falls well short of the '88 Accord I had when I first started driving.

Nissans are decent cars, but certainly nothing special.

$7000 is not out of line for a clean car that has been well maintained even if it is 10 years old.
