If you want to know new meanings of pain and anguish make sure you ride the "It's a small world after all" at least 3 times in a row.

LOL, after spending 2 days riding coasters with my 2 teenage boys at Magic Mountain we spent our last evening in Cali riding rides at Disneyland that my wife would actually go on. One of these was "It's a Small World" - I took video during the ride and the look of disgust and agony on my boy's faces was priceless!

a little different opinion, but I would suggest for whichever day you decide to split to do Magic Kingdom as a half day.

I just got back from Disney and felt that Magic Kingdom would have been the best choice(we did Epcot/Animal Kingdom split day) because it stays open till 11 at night. Epcot closes at 9, Hollywood at 8, and Animal Kingdom at 7 I think.

So you can get the most out of your split day by using the park that stays open the longest. We didn't feel there was enough to do in MK for an entire day.

They closed down a big section of MK for refurbishing, I believe. Tomorrowland I think is gone for now?

no, it was all open. Wasn't too crowded either surprisingly(since it was easter weekend). Most lines were 30 minutes and below for MK. Did everything we wanted to do multiple times by 2 in the afternoon

I would say do MK in half day too. When we went we didn't stay more than 5 hours there, and went on basically every ride, and watched a few shows too.

My girlfriend and I are going to Orlando for 4 days with the main focus of the trip being Disney World (she's never been).

I'm thinking:
Day 1) Magic Kingdom
Day 2) Epcot
Day 3) Animal Kindgom
Day 4) Universal Studios or explore Florida (if we're theme parked out)

Do you think the three Disney parks will keep us occupied for a full day?

I don't think we're going to rent a car (we're both under 25, so its actually somewhat costly with the extra fees), probably cheaper just to take taxis when we need and use the hotel shuttle to get to the parks. Think this is a mistake?

Any general suggestions?

It was the same price to rent a car as it would have been to pay the $60+ each way to get to MK from the airport. We left it sitting in the garage every day but one, and still feel that we got our money's worth.

That one day? Kennedy Space Center. Seriously, I had more fun here than at any of the parks. You don't even have to be a space nut to have a great time here. The Saturn V exhibit was the highlight of the trip for me. Plus there was the bonus of heading down to Cocoa afterward and having dinner/drinks on the pier. Sure the food is kinda meh, but the atmosphere is great and the beverages really hit the spot.

They add extra charges if you're under 25. I can't find anyplace that will rent a car to me for 5 days for less than $180. I could have gotten a rental car for virtually nothing through Expedia when I bought my tickets, but the deal is ineligible for people under 25.

Where are you staying and do they have an airport shuttle??

Taxi from airport to Disney area will be at least $50 each way. That is half your rental cost alone. If you start taking taxis any where else it will easily cost more than that $180 after just a few trips.

With a car you will have a lot more freedom to go to stuff as well. It really depends on where you are staying. If it is a Disney hotel then you can skip the car, if not then I would suggest spending the money.

Weekends are actually the slowest days of the week.

Most people are coming into or out of town on the weekends.

We're staying at Best Western Lake Buena Vista. I'm pretty sure they don't have airport shuttles. They have shuttles to Disney and they're basically in the Disney Downtown resort area.

I'm all for just sucking it up and getting a car so we have the freedom, but my girlfriend wants to try to save money. Need to do more thought on this.

When we went we road with someone in a van taxi who stayed at a hotel 3/4 of the way from the airport to disney world. He charged her the whole fare for her portion, and reseted th clock for us after he dropped her off. Cost us like $15 bucks only and she paid like 30. Funny thing is there was 5 of us and 1 of her.

I went with the family over 10 years ago now to the Orlando parks, so I'm sure a lot has changed. We, by far, enjoyed Universal's Island of Adventure the most. Of course, we live in San Diego so Animal Kingdom is just an inferior, Disneyfied copy of the Wild Animal Park here. We also had done Disneyland often, so the MK was kind of pointless for us. Epcot was pretty boring to us but we like MGM a lot.

We then spent a day at Islands of Adventure and it was a great park. Good roller coasters with still a lot of family stuff. It even has a big Harry Potter section now.

As an ex Disney cast member I can tell you that there is way more to see and do in each park than can be accomplished in a day. Unless your goal is to say you've been to each park and don't care how bad your feet hurt, take your time and enjoy. If you like an area stay and relax. There are no bonuses or penalties for not seeing everything.

As an ex-Disney hostage held and tortured in the "It's a Small World" ride for what seemed like an eternity, I'll point out that there's no point in attempting to see absolutely everything anyway - some things just aren't worth doing (in my opinion.) Then again, that ride gave me something to complain about for the last 15 years.
