Going to Vegas with the new girlfriend in 3 days, flying in late Sunday night, flying out Thursday evening.

I've been a couple of times before, but usually with larger groups of friends who already had strong opinions on what we needed to do.

So far on my list I have:

[*]Slots-A-fun, for cheap gambling that won't break the bank, and hopefully ease the girlfriend into table games
[*]The Spice Market Buffet
[*]Fremont Street @ Night to see the saxophone guy playing (the girlfriend plays saxophone in a band)
[*]Rollercoasters - I've been told the New York New York one is the best?

Any suggestions for other places to eat (cheap), or things to do (on a relatively tight budget; no $150 Cirque tickets)?

Last time in Vegas, my wife and I found a Casino War table at the Monte Carlo w/ min $1 bet. She was glued to the table for hours each day we were there. Made it much easier for me to do my gambling (and losing $) without her hovering or wanting to do something else Don't know if other casinos have War, but it's a great table game for new gamblers.

i saw it at the mirage last weekend also. i wish the people who were seated at my single-deck blackjack table would've went and played that instead of splitting 10's against a dealer 5 while sitting at third base.

The spice market buffet is awesome. Definetly go there. It's a lot better than the Bellagio's buffet and cheaper too. Check out the Stratosphere for some cool rides at the top of the building. I think it's around $40-$50 for admission to 3 different rides they have up there. They're all pretty cool and they give you awesome views of the city. Just be prepared to be patient, as the staff at the Stratosphere and the organization of the lines and elevators is horrible. If you wanna see a cool show, check out Le Reve. Get the champagne seats for a $10-$15 more and you get perfect seats on your own sofa with mini tvs to see underwater. They even give you a bottle of champagne, a waitress, and chocolate dipped strawberries.

For gambling, you can find $5 minimum crap tables during the morning/afternoon. At night, they ramp up the table minimums, but if you're there already during the transition, you can keep playing at the previous minimum.

Um, oh yea, you dont need a car in Vegas. Just bring some good running shoes.

What/Where is Le Reve?

It's a show at The Wynn. It's stadium style seating and the stage is basically a big pool where actors dive in and out and perform some cool stunts. I believe I paid $300 for 2 two tickets.

I'd go to the old stripe and watch the light show one night. It really is cool. I also enjoyed the old vegas area quite a bit. new vegas is nice and obviously newer but old vegas feels historic.

the best bang/buck buffet in town IMHO is the paris sunday champagne brunch. it is the most ridiculous buffet i have ever been to (note that i have not been to bellagio)

prime rib, crab cakes, king crab, lamb, etc., etc., etc. and free ***** champagne so you can get loaded

So

You're excited about free champagne (cheap champagne) and the Bellagio Buffet, and you're knocking the spice market buffet?

And when did it close. I was there a month or so ago, andthe building was under construction renovations, but the buffet is still there.

i never said the buffet was gone, merely that the alladin was gone, but thanks for clearing that one up. I was overly underwhelmed by that buffet. 2 hr wait (when you could get in), entrees overcooked, and missing the 'top shelf' collection that at least i desire. to it's credit, it was VERY ethnically diverse, but i'd rather have better food than more food.

also, there's nothing wrong with getting loaded for free =P

The New York, New York rollercoaster is pretty crappy compared to any decent roller coaster in an amusement park. I would do the rides on the Stratosphere instead, at least they have the height going for them (I haven't been on them). I think the NY, NY roller coaster was ~$20 for 2 people?

Use the search function here.

there are usually at thread every couple of months on this subject.

you have coasters at the Strat, a mini at the Sahara, the NY,NY and you can drive down to the State Line for another coaster.

That is all in the area.
