It's $10 extra in addition to the $20 extra for Sidekick data service?

I was wondering this as well, but I can't imagine it's as good as the Sidekick at doing what the Sidekick does.

I'll let you know in about an hour when UPS brings me my Qtek 9100 (same thing, different brand).

Can't be much worse than the Sidekick II. Atlease the MDA has Bluetooth.

I'm pretty sure HTC makes it.

Yeah it is HTC and this is the HTC Wizard that you are talking about. There are a couple of versions. The 100 series is GSM and Cingular, Tmobile and others carry it. The 200 series is CDMA with Sprint and Verizon. The main difference is button layout and processor speed. The 200 has a faster process but quite a bit less battery life than the 100 series. Other than that everything is a wash. Each carrier has slightly different models and it can get really confusing for the customer.

I have an MDA Mini on Tmobile. Works well but WOULD be SO nice to have the 128MB of ram. TomTom5 takes a few seconds to load up. I'm all for speed but it is rather small . I'll have to live with the lack of speed that I am use to on my computer.

Earphone speaker seems low compared to my P910i.

Outlook sync is great and avantgo is great.

Have you tried videos and music yet?

I'm looking for a PDA but if I can upgrade the sidekick to a PDA and phone I'll have everything made.

I miss my Dell Axim

my co-worker upgraded from the sidekick 2 to the MDA. He loves it. VPN and VNC away. He's is a big fan of MajorGeeks. It just proves he is one!

I have an MDA with the leaked QTek AKU2 ROM.

It's not a SideKick replacement. It's not a phone. It's a PocketPC with a phone application. I'm getting freaking sick of all the kids on HowardForums saying "OMG I CAN'T AIM MY FRENDZ LIKE ON MY SKII!!!1 THIS FON SUXZ!"

If you're one of those users, it's not for you. If you want something that you can hack, modify, and can do just about anything a PC can, it's for you. It does have some bugs, but for me the features outweigh them: push email, EDGE, WMP, MCE syncing, good phone performance, games, VNC/RDP, nice keyboard, great screen, good one-handed use with Smartskeys application, etc.

If you just want simple email and IMs, stick with the SK.

Well I've been (attempting) to use my QTek 9100 for the last day or so. I'm coming from a Treo, rather than a sidekick, and I'm severely disappointed.

The main thing that I always had my treo on me for was so that I could have my emails with me at all times. ChatterMail (for palm) gave me push-email that would sync with any mailbox I asked it to. Unfortunately, I can't get Windows Mobile to so do.

When I bought the device I was aware that there aren't any clients that can do push-email without an exchange server, but I was still expecting pocket outlook and the other clients to be able to periodically sync with my mailboxes. I've been trying to get that to work for the last couple of hours, and I think that this thing highly dislikes the size of my mailbox (22,000 messages). It always times out on the receiving message headers screen, no matter which client I use, even if asked only to sync messages from the last 24 hours.

That's about as far as I've got with setting it up, and if I can't get mail working I'll be forced to return it.

Speaking of T-mobile, does anyone know about any wireless internet plans, or would you all just recommend Sprint with one of their PCMCIA CDMA/EV-DO cards.

Several people at work (I work for TMo) have replaced their blackberries with the MDA, but I haven't heard any definitive opinions on it yet. Still in "new phone adjustment mode" I guess. But, nobody at work carries Sidekicks, so even if they loved the MDA I'm not sure if it would carry over to a Sidekick user.

i just bought the tmobile mda today for $300 AR with 2 year contract. i'm in love with the phone's size; it's small and yet has a large easy to read screen. i've already unlocked the phone and currently upgrading the ROM. this is MAJOR upgrade from my SE T610.

When are you people going to get 3G phones and service? I heard a rumor that it should happen some time 2007. If that's the case no point buying a EDGE PocketPC and then spend 600 bucks next year for a 3G PocketPC(which is what I want ultimately)

I hate version's service(no signal in my office but I get 4 bars TMobile) and 2 year contract plans. Also if you have a PocketPC you need to have both voice and the data plan. I'm not sending 100 bucks a month for phone.

I only got the SKII because I wanted access to my email and be able to send SMS messages eaiser as I txt more than I talk. I also wanted to be able to use the net to look stuff up while I'm on the road(like directions) but GPRS is so fracken slow by the time the page would load I'd be able to get directions my self by aimless driving.

Movies look good. 240x320 (Portrait of course) and music sounds fine. You do have to use a 2.5mm headphone jack though.

1GB SD cards are cheap but I only store GPS maps on mine and a few pics. Very nice for viewing pics on imo.

I don't listen to music on it because I have an iPod.
