It started yesterday where her eyes would start to get small. It looks red around her left eye area.
It looks really swollen. I took some ice and wraped it in saran wrap to ice down the area, hoping it would calm down the swelling.

It also looks like the skin underneath the eye is going over her eye ball.

Another thing i have notice is that she wasn't been acting her self lately. Usually at nights she is very hyper and running around, but ever since her eye is swollen, it seems like shes a different cat.

I can post pictures up if that helps.

Can someone please help, i really dont wanna loose my kitty, because, i love her very much.

*UPDATE*

Just came back from the Vet, and the nice doctor said it was an eye infection. It was from when my sister gave her a shower with the flea shampoo that she bought. He gave us some antibiotics and it should go away in a few days or so.

Everything came out less then $35.00. Looks like everything is gonna be fine.

Thanks everyone on anandtech for the support u have given me and my kitty. =)

And a cat is going to ask what it will cost it to associate with you?

We now have 27 cats. We take them to the vet, as needed, and then ask how we're going to pay for it. Of course, we must work longer, more productively to properly care for our feline friends/charges.

Fix them first, then worry about paying for their fixin'.

UG-

I agree with you to an extent. Sometimes animals cost too much to heal to justify. How can a person put a price on an animal's life? Well, if your cat/dog must have surgury to the tune of $500 or more, or you can't feed your family or pay your rent because of the vet bills, then it might be time to put the animal to sleep.

Putting her to sleep...

I mean if it does come out to 300 something. I will gladly help out and sell my computer parts just to have this car around the house.. I think my cats life is worth more then some computer part.

Hopefully cost isn't an issue...

I hope not either. It is probably just an infection and you'll have to give antibotics. Keep us posted.

Umm, when they cost too much to justify a good faith effort to heal?

What if you were the pet of your wage-earning cat and were facing being put down for lack of motivation on the part of your feline protector?

It isn't a lack of motivation. It is a matter of people being able to pay their own bills so they can eat and have a roof over their head. Granted most people should be able to scrape up enough money to pay for vet bills, but all I am saying is that euthanasia is a viable alternative in the very few cases when the owners are in a very tight spot money-wise.

My aunt and uncle have a dog which has had cancer a number of times. The cost of treatment was just outragious. Fortunately they had enough money to pay for it. Now, I being a poor student, wouldn't be able to afford that sort of care. Does this mean that I shouldn't get a dog? No. Responsible pet owners will reserve enough money to pay all normal medical expenses for their pet, and set aside money to pay for the abnormal ones. If a situation comes along where the owner can't afford treatment for their animal (and I mean really can't afford... eating Ramen and PBJ) then euthanasia is an alternative.

Get her to a vet. Most vets will work with you as far as a payment plan to pay for the cost of care. Keep us updated.

Wow and I thought 10 was a lot! This is pretty much the approach we take as well. I was all set to buy a new MB and processor when we got a scare with one of our cats. Our vet thought he had intestinal cancer so we took him to a local referral center and they did a lot of tests that ended up costing roughly $750.00. I will just do without the upgrade for now and was happy to find out that he likely does not have intestinal cancer.

Sounds like an infection (maybe of the tear duct) or possibly something in her eye that she's not able to get out. I wouldn't think it'd be too much to take care of, if that's all it is. Around here, the basic vet bill is around $60 plus medications, which isn't hard to handle at all. It's always best to catch any illness early on, when the least amount of treatment is needed.

Let us know how she does.

dude that' s like saying .. hmmm grandpa's bladder cancer is costing too much... let's pull the plug....

hmmm... i guess some people would do that....

i guess there are different type of pet owners out there... i guess in the end one would ask what's more important... lobster dinner and a dead pet or pbj and a cured pet... or worse pbj and a dead pet from failed operation...

i'm willing to spend thousands on my pet myself because i treat my cat like a part of my family... i won't spend a cent on someone else's pet because..well you know....

yeah you're right... some times people treats their pet better than their relatives....

why would people leave millions to their pet dog and nothing to their boys/girls..

so it depends on who is the apple and who is the orange...

There are many cats available to anyone at anytime. Newpapers classifieds are filled with free kittens/cats in every city.

The grandparent with poor health is a unique individual that cannot be replaced.

I completely agree with you that some people treat their pets better than their family members. But you cannot compare healthcare strategies between the two.

27 CATS!!???

Reminds me of that "Simpsons" episode with the crazy cat lady.

You don't use them as weapons do you?

BTW: I hope your kittys OK. DO take it to the vet, no matter the cost!
