Any way to get a higher resolution on a Dell 700m?

The max resolution is 1280x800, and my company has software that the forms mess up on really bad at this resolution. Is there any way, 3rd party software or not, that I can up the resolution on the Inspiron 700m?

you can not go over the max resolution. there are only so many pixels.

That it will do, but the boss doesn't want to spend any money, and I don't want to have to tell him there aren't any other solutions.

Change the resolution to 1024x768 and deal with some fuzziness?

resolution is a function of the video card and your monitor.

If you only have onboard video on the motherboard, you can add a new or used cheap video card if the resolution really gets to be a problem.
Buy one that matched the max resolution of your monitor. Or used monitors are cheap, if you need one with higher resolution....

the 700m is a laptop. just making sure that was clear.

the OP was asking for a higher resolution. 1024x768 would be lower.

some video cards on Windows Mellenium with certain monitors allows you to go over the resolution according to choice... however, you have to navigate like a Real Time Strategy game where you move the cursor to the edge of the screen to view the oversized resolution boundaries.

beyond what Valkerie suggested, it seems you should start thinking of an interesting way to tell your boss that it is not possible with that laptop. Ether you need to upgrade the laptop to one that has SXGA+ resolution, uxga resolution, or the Wide screen versions of these resolutions OR spend $380 and get the Dell 20" LCD when the coupons roll around again.

I just told him that it is impossible to get a higher resolution with that monitor. So what does he tell me to do? Ship an extra monitor that we have here in our Pennsylvania office to him at the California office. Shipping was $85 for priority overnight. He could have went to a Staples or Best Buy in Irvine and gotten a 17" CRT (shipped him a 19" CRT) for the same price. Must be nice to have an endless flow of cash.
