Any way to upgrade to Nexus 6 on VZW and NOT lose unlimited plan?

Only thing I've been able to think of is to buy at full price (ouch). Any other ideas?

You can try adding an additional line then adding it under that additional line and then swap with your old phone. Although I think that I've heard that they've closed that loophole. If that is the case the only way to upgrade and not lose unlimited that I'm aware of would be to purchase at full price.

Upgrade to nexus 6 on Verizon, lose unlimited, pay etf, move over totmobile, get reimbursed for etf and regain unlimited on T-Mobile

But yeah, Verizon is closing a lot of the loopholes... If you really want a nexus (aka unlocked bootloader and all the good custom Roms), paying full price is the way to go

How about the trick or ordering via bestbuy.com ship to home and swaping sim cards out?

There's a big thread about it on slickdeals.

Put the $650 on a 0% interest credit card. That's what my younger brother did for his 5S. Paid it off in 8 months in a small payments.

Move to Tmo, have no signal, never use your phone and marvel at the terrible battery life when your phone is constantly searching for a connection.

I kid, but tmo is simply not an option even in some big cities due to lack of signal penetration and coverage.

Buy the nexus 6 from Google. It's one phone for all carriers. It has all the band's. Use a card that has 0% interest and pay it off in a couple of months.

If you have two lines and one has an upgrade you can upgrade the second line and just pop your SIM in the nexus 6. I believe the best buy method may still work.

You buy the phone online at best buy and have it shipped to you but don't turn it on. Swap your SIM card in there then activate it. I'm not sure if they arrive activated now.

I have Verizon now and I'll buy the nexus 6 with my credit card to get points then switch it to another card that has 0% interest and pay it off in 3 months.

This way I have time if I think it is too big and want to return it or if I want to switch providers.

Yep, I would do this.

It makes me nervous doing that, like that it'll get 'caught' or VZW will do some weird back charge or something. I saw the thread and started to skim but it's so massive, I just can't go through the whole thing. I know you order and switch SIM cards before turning on the new phone, but I want to know the full details on what you have to do. Maybe I"ll pony up the 650...

Just pony up. No need to gamble away your unlimited plan (if it is important for you).

Well if you already have a nano SIM card, you just insert it before you turn the phone on. If not, you take the phone, check to see if a SIM is inside and take it with you to the carrier after taking the SIM out but not turning it on. You ask for a nano SIM and tell them you want to swap phones.

A few members of my android devs did this without issues. I could have too but I didn't want to risk it either.

The nexus 6 works in all carriers as long as you order from the play store. I'm going to pre order from there and just go to Verizon and ask for a nano SIM. I already have an m7 on Verizon but that uses micro.

If they give me issues and say they can't make it work I'll just switch to metro..I've been off contract for a while now.

Well you can take a chance, or pay up.

Its the opposite; TMO is really good in most urban areas, but drops off as soon as you leave the city.

I'm somewhat lucky, all the major cities in my state have full TMO LTE coverage. Phoenix, Flagstaff, Tucson, and Prescott.
