Eat in small amounts throughout the day, larger amounts in the beginning of the day and taper it off... this will keep your metabolism going. Drink a lot of water to aid your metabolism too.
Eat less carbs, or no carbs, more protein and greens.
And in terms of lifting, slowly is not necessarily beneficial. It depends on what you are going for. Whatever you do though, stretching 24/7 is a must. Lifting slowly will aid you in gaining strength, to lose fat, go for cardio workouts. In terms of how you should lift, taking it slow or not, that's your choice. I've always believed in the shock treatment. That has worked for me since high school, but only because the times in between workout periods were short with 3 months being the longest without a workout.
