Figured I'd see if I could bump a recent/older thread before I start one of my own:
I'm looking for something similar, a detachable ultrabook would be ideal, though I could settle for something like the Dell XPS 12 Duo.
What I've seen available on the market doesn't really seem ideal, too many compromises and sacrifices.
One will be great, but no wacom. One will seem to have everything but is an Atom-based model. Etc.
The one that, in theory, seems quite awesome is the Asus Transformer Book TX300. I think I'd prefer somewhere around 11" more than 13" for working with it in tablet mode, but I could accept it. If the keyboard and touchpad are great, that size at 1080p would make for a better notebook experience.
Price and release date are unknown, but they seem to have kicked up the teasers for it as of recent. It was teased last summer but seemed to have died since then.
By the end of the year, there should be a few models that please almost everyone.
Hopefully by springtime, there are at least a few decent ones. From the CES coverage, it appears Acer might have something decent in the works, but I couldn't tell if it was a semi-hybrid device with a kickstand/dock approach (ala Acer W700, Microsoft Surface), or something like an Ultrabook with the notebook-style dock.
I've batted an eye at the upcoming Surface Pro, but it seems too limited by that kickstand approach. It's gorgeous and a great size, but argh, the utility is very limited.
edit:
I'm beginning to think that Transformer Book won't have a Wacom digitizer.
