anybody been to Sonic? the restaurant?

well not really a restaurant more like a drive in cafe...just wondering if the food is any good. they've been playing quite a few commercials around the bay lately and i thikn they're building one next to the IN and Out here in Union City.

edit: thanks for the opinions peoples. seems like most peeps sofar rated the quality has mediocre. my gf seems to be excited about it for some odd reason. i'll try to post some pics of the construction, dont' know if its really gonna be a sonics yet.

the popcorn chicken is rather tasty.
i dont mind sonic.

Hit it for the kids about 1 or 2 times a week. Food is ok, but if you think McDonalds food is fattening take a look at the nutritional values at Sonics website. The have a good line of desserts and stuff you normally won't find anywhere else.

One word of caution, don't believe the name. The are far from Sonic in terms of service.

Oh yeh.... its a frequent stop of me and my pregnant wife....she loves their 99 cent hot fudge sundae, plus they have good burgers, grilled cheese, corn dogs, tater tots w/ cheese, and, my favorite, creme slush (otherwise "used to be" known as the Flurry)

There are several around Utah. They're actually putting in a new one a couple blocks up the street from me. I've never been, but was going to try it.

There are a couple around here that I've tried. To me, the food quality always seems to be as low as humanly possible. I think even McDonald's and Taco Bell have higher quality standards. Yuck. Maybe the Sonics around you are better, but the food I've been served looks like it couldn't have been made any cheaper (example: tomatoes were fully green with no hint of red).

I wouldn't go out of my way to find one, that's for sure. The food is ok at best. (Milwaukee, WI area) If its fast food, I usually go for Culvers or Quiznos.

Cafe?!?! WTF calls it a cafe. It's just a drive in fast food joint. I like their breakfast food, and they're onion rings are the best. The also have GREAT BLTs, and all of their desserts/drinks r0x0rs your b0x0rs!

Yup.. just another fast food joint! Not a restaurant/cafe.

It's the best place around my area for chili dogs. Burgers aren't too bad... as others have mentioned some of the other stuff is pretty good too.

The slushes and icee type drinks are pretty popular with the dozens of mixed flavors they have.

I too enjoy their food.

I don't go every week but its nice every once in a while. I like the Texas toast burger(forgot the name), the cheddar poppers(death), and the chocolate/peanut butter milk shake.

They have a chili cheeseburger that is better than anything around here in NC. As for fast food places, I'd rate them higher than McD's and Burger King. But not as good as Rally's.

I eat at Sonic every once in awhile, about as often as I eat at any other fast-food place.

Their food is about as good (and bad) as any other fast food place.

SWEET!!! Sonic's has really really good strawberry limeades (especially the diet strawberry limeades) which are made with fresh limes and frozen strawberries and sprite and it's so good. I can't wait until it opens!!! I've been waiting for one to open in the Bay Area since I went to my first Sonic's in Oklahoma a couple of summers ago.
