Anybody else jumping ship tomorrow?

If the iPhone is actually announced for VZ tomorrow anybody going to jump? I cannot stand AT&T anymore. I would say that 50% of my calls are still being dropped and that's just not acceptable. I have contacted them numerous times and honestly had they given me a months credit or something I probably would have stayed but they don't seem to care.

I don't use my phone often to make calls but when I do I expect it to work. The data side of the phone has been great but that's not the problem. I know I am taking a chance with VZ having the same issues but it's worth the risk. My two phone's contracts are up so I am free to leave. I'm also pretty sure the iPhone 4 will be slightly redesigned to avoid any more antennagate issues.

I will get a Verizon iPhone, the question is simply "when". I want a 4G phone for my next upgrade, so if Verizon isn't releasing that until January 2012, then I will wait.

Unless...Verizon offers an unlimited data package that is only good for this year, and can be grandfathered into the 4G phone next year. In that case, I'll have to bite and then eat the full-price upgrade next year in order to keep unlimited data.

Guess we'll find out soon

I realize that people already do this through jailbreak, but ATT was extremely pissed at Apple for even wanting to put programmable sim chips (for network portability) into the phones. Does anyone have any firm information on this?

Technically, you won't be able to use an ATT iPhone with Verizon. UTMS vs CDMA.

I would make the switch, but two things prevent me..

1) ETF.
2) Higher prices on plans. (on the $15/mo data plan currently)

However, when I get to the end of my contract in 2012, I might make the jump. We'll see.

No no, I am going to sell my AT&T iphones on ebay and buy two new VZ i4s. I currently have a 3GS and 2G so I've been holding out on upgrading vs. going to VZ.

Like you I have older gen stuff. My contract has been up for awhile but I've been waiting for the next revision iphone4 to come out (which should be this spring hopefully), but now that I hear about Verizon I might need to look at my options.

The only thing that keeps me happy with ATT in the meantime is my Microcell, which works like a champ. Around my home all we have is EDGE, and near my house the signal is low...but with my Microcell I get full signal 3G at my house. ATT is talking about 4G this summer, but I doubt it would be used near my house (at least not initially), so if Verizon offers 3G or 4G near my house then they have the upper hand in a large way.

At work I have 3G so it's not as big a deal there.

Bigrash I see it says your from flushing. I work in Flushing and the reception BLOWS. Like I said earlier I too called a bunch of times complaining and they have not done one thing. AT&T has made enough money off of me the past 3 years that its time to go.

VZW LTE is somewhat close, if they start dropping roll-out dates and the VZW iPhone is LTE, I'm game.

Seeing as they'd have to put a new communications chip in the iPhone for VZW, it very well could be LTE supported.

Obviously I'd prefer the VZ phone to have LTE but theres a good chance that it will only be CDMA. How does the CDMA compare to AT&T's UDMA network? Is the speed really that much of a difference as AT&T is claiming?

I just read the Verizons iphone (and possibly future ATT iphones) will be both CDMA and UMTS in order to be compatible worldwide.

No, the speed isn't all that different, at least here in San Jose, CA.

I have had very few issues with AT&T coverage or dropped calls (and not any more than I previously had with Verizon).

I am hoping that all the people leaving for Verizon will lessen the load on the AT&T network. It almost feels like I will get a network upgrade while doing nothing for it!

Hmm I called 3 different corp. verizon stores and all said they have received no iphones and have not been advised that they are receiving any. Went further to say they had received many calls today regarding this. FWIW.

The announcement may be tomorrow, but availability won't be until some time in February.

Well, either they are all lying, or the announcment tomorrow is that on X date, the iPhone 4 will be on Verizon.

I wouldn't be surprised if the people who work for VZ really don't know anything. I know someone who works for AT&T who tells me that they often don't know anything officially until some time after the general public gets wind of it. Trying asking an AT&T person when the white iphone is coming out......

How can that be if iPhone 4 has multi-tasking?

I'm sure you could do this on VZW Droid phone.. correct me if I'm wrong.

You could do this before without multi-tasking, as the phone app would minimize. Any rate... Its most likely a phone limitation before the iPhone's time.

ding ding ding, this is a limitation of CDMA, but there is a newer version that does voice + data - not sure if verizon implemented this yet
