FYI, it looks like you don't need an invite anymore. I logged out from google+ and went to it's front page just to check. It looks like anyone can sign up now with a google ID. Can somebody try it and see if it works?

I was able to slip in last night (TWSS). The interface is much more pleasant than facebook, but I didn't spend enough time to see if the overall package was better.

No, you have to be invited *and* create your profile right away.

I have some friends who got invited on the first night but were late to register and got their 'over capacity' message. They were late again last night to create their profiles and got the same message again.

I have some family members who I invited last night for the first time and got in, because they were online and immediately created their profiles.

I also have heard from people who haven't been invited, tried going to http://plus.google.com without being invited when they were 'open' last night and they couldn't get in. So you still need to be invited.
