Anybody get a Google+ invite?

I love the new layout. If having a clean, non-cluttered, nice looking organized layout is childish then I guess I'm 4.

I just got an invite from someone and signed up. I don't understand. It is the same as Facebook except nobody uses it.

I hope Google doesn't think that making social networking services invite-only is good for doing anything except reducing the stress on their servers. It worked for Gmail because email is cross-compatible with all other email, regardless of whether it's a Gmail account or not. For anything else that relies on many people being signed up for the service to be of value, limiting the number of people just makes the service worse.

I'll probably end up disabling my account pretty soon. I'm not going to go out and evangelize Google+ to a bunch of Facebook users.

the only difference is privacy settings are IN YOUR FACE instead of embedded in...4 clicks.

The privacy settings are kinda annoying. I have to go through like fifty animations to just make sure it's set as "my circles only" or whatever. And it's not in one place either, it's fucking all over. You have KNOW where to click in order to set the privacy settings.

IDK why people think they've done it "right".

This. The old version of Gmail was horrible. I don't give a shit about page space wasted, the new layout is much better to navigate.

Also, are Huddles workingfor you guys? My messages take hours to send and receive.

Looks cool, but i think it's going to have a very hard time competing with an already established Facebook.

I can see it becoming popular amongst the more tech savvy crowd especially since most already have Gmail, etc, but mainstream...dunno, i don't see how it's going to be much competition to FB.

Yeah I want to turn the whole bar off without having to sign out and then sign back into my account whenever I want to check my Gmail.

I "fixed" it by using a blank image as my profile picture. My friends know what I look like.
