I entered in Fall 2002 and should graduate in 2006... but after switching majors, adding one year of studying abroad, AND more time lost since I'll be transferring schools..

It looks like I'll be three years or so behind. Graduate when I'm 24? :frown:

Oh well... does it say on your degree how old you were when you got it? It's better than not having it at all.

I graduated last december... working as a medical technologist now and as you can see I'm browsing this board at work... I wanna go back... bordom comes quickly after you graduate.... unless your lazy in which case your better off not even continuing your education.... take your time and enjoy the experiance

The average time to get an undergrad is about 5 years from what I've heard. And a lot of people take longer.

nope. graduated in 4 years with a double major.

in retrospect, though, I kinda wish I had taken an extra year and spent two semesters abroad.

Don't feel bad. Mine took 11 years. I was going part time taking one or two classes a semester. I'm sure it would take a lot less time now that online classes are available at many colleges. I found that having a family and a full time job left little time for attending classes during the evening. I guess it's better late than never.

Some of the best students I have seen were older, sometimes a LOT older. There's no shame in a late grad as long as you are working hard now.

If that's what people who get early PhDs do, I'm not sure that's exactly something to be proud of.

So it's all time lost? You regret changing majors, studying abroad and everything else?

I went to college around 1989, did about 7 years until my ex-wife broke her neck.

At the same time I was already accepted to Pharmacy schools and was on a 1 year deferment because I didn't think it was for me....about a month before my ex-wife's accident I was told my transfer to Computer Science or Engineering was denied.

I got a pretty good job offer, at the time degree wasn't important. 4.5 years later I hit a blue suit wall. I had 15 years of mortgage experience at the time and they wanted a degree. I had recently sold off my house in a divorce, figured may as well sell off the rest and go do that....and not work for them again.

Entered Computer Science in 99/00 and graduated with my Bachelors about a year and a half later. I was about 30.

profit.

I'm 21, turning 22 in July, and wont graduate until summer of '06. Started school in '01. Granted, I transferred schools (lost alot of credits), co-op in spring of '03, and am currently on co-op this spring/summer. If any other opportunities arise which I can't pass up, I will probably push back graduation even further. I figure, I may end up graduating a year or two later than everyone else, but at the same time I will actually have real work experience and hopefully have an easier time finding a decent paying job.

It's BS - he's only 19, and a fast-food worker.
