Keurig is great. I don't drink coffee, but my friends and family that do love them.

They all 'poo-pooped' the idea at first, but now convenience is winning them over.

Costco and BJ's have the best deals. We got the B60 equivalent a couple years ago for about $110-120 with 86 K-cups plus the reusable one thrown in free. It was a no-brainer at that price.

You can get coffee on sale for as low as .20 a cup.

Thanks for the replies guys

Costco has this one with 60 k-cups and a reusable filter for $150. I like the cups but they are expensive - so we'd probably end up just using the filter.

Also, I usually bring a big travel mug and drink it on my way to work. Will these units be able to fill it up or would I have to use the machine twice to get it full?

This is the exact one i bought. It has like 5 settings for coffee or tea sized. If you choose the large setting it will fill the travel mug about 85% full.

Well, I went ahead and bought it. It was actually cheaper in the store then on the website which I found to be odd. I got the same exact package for $139.99 ($10 less then the costco.com).

Its my wife's Christmas present so shush don't tell her!

I liked my Keurig for the one-shot-make-any-flavor-you-want kind of deal, but the coffee it makes is just too weak. Even using 2 cups per mug, I still found all the different coffees I tried to be pretty watered down (got a few variety packs so I've tried over 50 different brands).

I got a Moka pot instead, and brew coffee so black that even when made into a 50% water added Americano it's still black as used motor oil

I do still keep the Keurig machine around, however, in case I want to pick up some K-cups later on for flavored coffee, etc. Though I think a Tassimo machine might be a better choice for that since it does the "specialty" coffees like lattes.

Best places ive found to buy the K-Cups is Amazon or Bed Bath & Beyond. Cheaper at Amazon, and once you find one you like you can subsribe to have it sent on various time intervals and save an extra 15%.

But BB&B has 20% off coupons all the time, so those come in handy if you need a quick fix

I hate the keurig. But if you like weak brown water that smells like coffee and tastes like nothing, by all means buy one.

Then you are buying the wrong pods.

And yes, I do grind my own and french press too.

I love my Keurig because I get a consistent cup of coffee with every single K-Cup.

You can also get an adapter/pod for the Keurig to brew your own ground coffee in it, I think it's called "My Cup" or something like that. Though it kind of ruins one of the main points of having a machine like this.

I used a Keurig for about a year and then switched to a Tassimo. I like the coffee from the Tassimo better and it has a much broader selection of drinks available for it as the pods tell the machine exactly how to brew them by way of a bar-code that's automatically scanned when the pod is inserted. You can get decent cappuccinos, lattes, etc.. with the Tassimo but not really with the Keurig.

With both machines you should try a wide array of pods from different companies as they all vary pretty widely in strength and flavor.

If you think the MyCup adapter ruins the machine... you have no idea what they're for... and therefor your opinion is nullified.

stop using pods that are 2 years old.

or buy the MyCup adapter and make your own when you need it?

I said it ruins one of the main points of the machine, which is convenience. If you're looking for the perfect single-serve coffee solution, including grinding your own beans, you should look elsewhere.

For example, the AeroPress: http://aerobie.com/products/aeropress.htm

For me, that made better tasting coffee just about as fast, was easy and clean-up was easier than the MyCup. However, it still wasn't as convenient as just popping in a pre-packaged pod and hitting a button.

we have a tassimo that is about 3 years old and still doing a good job. The discs are kind of expensive, but my wife loves it. I personally don't drink anything from it.

Haven't tried tassimo, but I didn't really think too highly of the Keurig pods I tried. I know there is a large variety so I'm not willing to fully discount the product, but I found the espresso pod machines much more rewarding (nespresso and the nescafe dolce gusto). The variety is limited but everything tastes like coffee should when it comes out of that machine.

We use a jura-capresso espresso maker which is as convenient as a keurig for straight coffee. You fill the thing with beans, hit a button, and espresso or regular coffee comes out (we have it set to espresso and fill with espresso beans but could easy keep it set at regular coffee and use standard beans). It costs an enormous fortune but was a wedding gift; if you are wealthy beyond measure as all anandtech forum posters are known to be, then I would recommend looking into one.

We have Tassimo from Bosch. Bed Bath and Beyond had a sale and a rebate on it last fall. The reason I went with Tassimo is that my wife wants latter and cappuccino, and Keurig only does straight coffee - they don't have pods with milk.

No complaints here - the machine has been working steadily since September.
