Anybody have good home remedies for allergy PND?

Spring is finally in the air and while I can finally breathe, the side effect is the back of my throat is on fire and my stomach feels like crap from all the post-nasal drip. Mind you I have no problems dealing with the throat. I end up sounding like Barry White after a couple days and the gals love it, but I could do without feeling like throwing up at any given hour of the day.

List off your home remedies here.

What's your diet like? I would suggest trying an anti-inflammatory diet (if you haven't already).

The only thing I have heard of is local honey. Dunno how valid it is, but at least it is tasty.

We get local honey all the time, at least during farmer's market season. In fact "our" honey guy is about as close as close can get from us, his bees are about 2 miles from our house. Now that you mention it I haven't been partaking much. I'm not much of a fan of sweet things.

Make some cashew butter with it and live the high life.

Get some nasacort. Works great. I have some at my home, so I consider that a home remedy

American Herb and Spice's Oregaresp. You have to take a lot, but it works.

Maybe a Netty pot to keep things clear and/or some sort of xylitol nasal spray to help dry things up?

Get some nasacort. Works great. I have some at my home, so I consider that a home remedy

Nasacort is the best. I work in a super dusty and dirty environment, a warehouse, and nasacort works great for me and I have really bad allergies.

Nasacort has so many side effects for me. Cold sores, ear infections, sinus infections. But I haven't found anything better OTC. :\

Benadryl will alleviate the symptoms, if you also keep using honey, it can eliminate them.

That sucks. I haven't experienced any side effects other than a slight burning sensation for the first 2 mins after not using it for a long time.

So Nasacort essentially suppresses the immune system is what you're saying?

I'll tell you what, though, be careful with Flonase. I used it for a few months and one of my retinas started detaching. Stopped use early enough that I am okay. No permanent damage.

Benadryl will alleviate the symptoms, if you also keep using honey, it can eliminate them.

There is very little evidence that honey does anything to alleviate/cure allergies.

If its bothering you that much go to an allergist, get the scratch test to see what you're allergic to and then get allergy shots formulated for it. Its about the only way to get real relief from allergies.

flonase is pretty good

I've been doing immunotherapy/allergy shots for years but I still have to use flonase and/or allergra from time to time.

Allergist said that shots for seasonal allergies are pretty much useless.

Or baklava. I spent a lot of time in the 1970's figuring out how to make it really really well. My last batch was ace, but I never made it again. Secret IIRC was refrigerating the dough between each layering with butter.

That's what my doctor said. I have one but I've never used it. If my symptoms were bad enough, I'd give it a try. Lately my problem is my voice failing unless I clear my throat several times. It's embarrassing when I'm on the radio (I DJ). Occasionally I get sudden seemingly unprovoked attacks. I don't know how to describe it, it's in my throat, they last a few minutes. I'll be hacking, sneezing, my head will spin, then it goes away.

I take OTC allergy pills once a day, have a saline nasal spray that I used to use with doubtful benefit, bit I haven't bothered with it for years.

Yeah, I did that when I was a teenager. They told me I was allergic to honeydew melon and to a lesser degree, cantaloup. I really like the latter but I confess that my throat burns some when I eat honeydew.

Generic azelastine nasal spray, or brand name Astelin. Works great.
