Anybody here a freemason?

Screening a novel that's about freemasonry and conspiracy. Fun stuff, well written and worth publishing. There've been a lot of conjectures about Masons over the past couple hundred years. Is there anyone here that's involved? What's with the secrecy? It has persisted a long time for something purportedly a mere social organization, and there's a lot of restrictions for something only social.

It's a graphic novel/movie about one theory of who Jack the Ripper was and a possible Freemason connection. Great movie (albeit very violent), I highly recommend renting it.

My half-sister had been doing intensive research on the links between the Freemasons and the Illuminati for 19 years when i saw her last. I don't doubt she's still at it, assuming she got away from the people that were trying to kill her. Seriously; she had to leave her home and stayed with us for a couple weeks; while she was away, four of her friends died from "accidents" (Hit by truck, drowned in own pool, etc..)

no, those are hoods. But i remember seeing some freemason in a movie or cartoon that wore a funky hat... didn't the Simpsons episode where Homer joins the Stonecutter have one of those hats too? I remember Flintstones did. Of course, all my knowledge comes from cartoons, so i'm probably wrong.

Nope. Membership isn't hereditary. It makes it easier for you to get in though. You can't join unless you have a sponsor.

Nope. Membership isn't hereditary. It makes it easier for you to get in though. You can't join unless you have a sponsor.

Do you know a little about the organization? What else do you know about it?
