I signed my XBOX 360 up through the site. It was out of warranty but there is an option that if there is RROD you can still send it in and get it fixed for free.

Now, the status is - waiting for device at repair center. Are they supposed to send me a box to ship it to them in? If not, how am I supposed to know where to send it too? Bad documention for MS on their website.

Any ideas?

My 360 died - I called them up and got that idiot "Max" or whatever, so I hung up and did it online.

You just send a request for a repair, then they give you a confirmation number. In a few days you get your coffin and that's it. It's essentially the same as calling up customer service but takes 1/100 of the time.

Put in request online, they send you a box - it has a shipping label included. Mail it back, wait about 2-3 weeks and you should get your xbox back.

thanks.

I put in the request like 5 days ago. Haven't gotten the box yet. Does it usually take this long?

It says as the status "waiting for device to arrive"

The box actually took me about a week, another week for them to receive it and change the status, then finally two weeks for it to come back. I received a "replacement unit"; no repairs were made. I also had the RLOD.

They send you a box using a ground label. Once you get the box (takes about a week), you stick your xbox in the box, then place the included 3-day air label on the outside of the box.

It takes about 2-3 weeks, and they send you the xbox back thru UPS 3-day air I believe.

You should get a phone call the day before the xbox is supposed to arrive so you can make arrangements to sign for it (Which is required)

EDIT: by the way, I have already been thru this process 4 times. I am starting to think the xbox keeps on breaking because sometimes we smoke inside

The smoking part might have some weight of truth. i had to work on computers from people that smoked and the inside had a layer or brown stuff overevery thing. I ma sure the heatsink in the Xbox of yours was covered and was not working 100%.

Also might want to post in the Console Gaming section OP.

Yeah, we aren't smoking cigarette tho so there is a lot less smoke than with normal cigarettes.

So, heres the lesson folks....If you smoke weed and play xbox 360, protect your xbox 360!

I had the RLOD too. It took me about 3 weeks to get a replacement back. It's so ridiculous, if they were going to send me a replacement, they should have sent this back the day they received my xbox and confirmed the error. In addition, they sent me an xbox that was older than the one I sent in--I didn't buy an xbox last year to get a refurbished xbox instead, I really think they should have provided users with a new xbox.

Microsoft customer service is truly terrible.

You know, as much as I have had problems with my xbox, Ive actually enjoyed microsofts service.

First off they send you a box
2nd, they try and send one back in a timely manner.
( > Month turnaround time is pretty good IMO)

And 3rd, I had had 4 problems with the xbox (2 RROD's, 2 disc read errors)
The red rings of death were immediately fixed, but my disc read errors were definitely not under warranty. Needless to say, after a couple years of owning the 360, i have gotten everything fixed in a timely manner
