They were recently ranked #5 by BusinessWeek as one of the top places to launch a career. However, based on what everybody else has told me, interns are treated like dirt. Are entry levels treated any better? Any feedback on the subject is appreciated, thanks

My friend was an intern there and hated it. He took a management training program with GE instead and has been enjoying the work but hates the location he's at.

I was on their manager trainee program, worked there for over 3 years and ran my own branch, they are a great company to work for. Any questions feel free to ask her or PM me

I've read too many articles and forums about enterprise employment in the last week. Overall opinion is that they are a horrible company to work for.

HORRIBLE

Read the things former employees are saying

I applied for a position with them. I just wanted to see what they'd offer in terms of compensation. I got an email back saying they pay all new hires right out of college $33,500. That is insulting to me.

I have a friend who works there doing corporate accounting or something. He's always at work before 7:00AM and rarely gets off before 7:00PM. They also pay him wages that I consider pretty much sh!t -- pretty much in line with krunchykrome's number.

Right, former employees say you work crazy hours, you clean and wash cars in a suit, and you rent cars.

I just emailed the enterprise recruiter back and my exact words were:

"Ms. XXXXX,

Please discontinue your review of my application as I am no longer interested.

David XXXX"

Some guy on this board works there. He rented a Lotus a few weeks back, try searching for it.

When I was in bschool they always tried to get people to sign up. After talking with a few people I decided that I was never going to talk to them, not that I was ever going to, but it's always good to check out all avenues.

I know 2 guys that work / worked there.. They both went up in the ranks and one makes amazing $ there. The other went to another agency for some reason.

I sometimes think I should go there and work my ass off.. It does seem to pay off.

it's one of the worst places to work. it's great to go through the interview process though; you'll find out what kind of bullshvt company it is and it'll help you detect future bullshvt companies. They offered me $35k in Los Angeles starting salary and they force you to work overtime. I've heard people work 60 hours a week or more. They push and push you to sell that crap insurance and if you don't threaten to fire you. It's not a fun job.

I have a friend who went to work for them right out of college about 15 years ago. He's a regional vice president now and makes well over 6 figures.

Enterprise does not pride itself on hiring the best and brightest. If you can't find another job with a Marketing or Management degree they will hire you. They have their niche.

$35,000 is a fair salary in many areas of the country for a mediocre student with a crap degree like Marketing.

Enterprise is a good place to work for a certain type of person. Their recruiting model is to hire entrapenuer types right out of college and basically set them up as though they have their own business.

Having your own business is a lot of work for the first couple of years and you typically don't make bank right away. The advantage in this for you is that if you're good, you can build something very profitable for the company and for you, and they cover all the initial investment and pay you a living wage. The disadvantage is that you're working your tail off and you have the struggle of starting a business that might not ultimately pan out.

It's a risk with a good return if you can make it happen.

$9.50 an hour working 60+ hours a week is hardly a fair salary for a college grad with a business major

But it beats working for nothing trying to start your own business, which is the most comparable situation.

You're better off working as a waiter than at ERAC. CA waiters average upper $20s/hour.
And there are plenty of alternative entry level positions out there for college grads paying $30-35k working 9-5.

I knew you rented the Lotus but I didnt think you were a cost accountant for Enterprise

6 figures is nice, but if you stay anywhere for 15 years, six figures is not an impressive salary. 6 figures is a lot, dont get me wrong, but 15 years worth of work at a company, and I would expect most people to get to 6 figures.

Yup, my old roommate worked there. She worked insane hours and barely made $30k. I think she still works there, but at least she finally got a raise. Not sure how much she is making now. She said she liked working there, but she sure bitched about it a lot too.

Yea, $9.50 an hour is a disgrace for any college grad. Waiters can average $20+...hell, you could earn more working some some retail store in the mall and work less hours too.

My buddy works there. He worked there while he was in college and now that he just graduated with a business degree, he said he's probably gonna stay there. I know it's not the pay that is keeping him there, and it sure as hell isnt the work...he rents cars all day long. The only reason I would think he is staying there is because he goes out to happy hour with the coworkers sometimes. So I guess it can be fun after work.....but if thats anyone's priority upon graduating college, I would think they have serious issues.

Well, I'm not sure exactly how much he makes but they moved him to Chicago and then up to Canada where he is currently. I know he lives in a very nice house, good schools, he has 3 kids and a wife who doesn't need to work. What more could you ask for really?

The question is career pathing, earning potential. Where do go from being a waiter?

I'm not endorsing it, I'm just saying it works for some people.
