Is there anyone here that lives in Duncan? I'm moving out there in a week and a half, (for work) and just need to find some computer junkie-ish people.. maybe some that would be interested in setting up a LAN party every once in a while.

Duncan Oklahoma. It's about an hour south and a little bit west of Oklahoma City, close to the Texas border.

How'd ya guess? I'm starting my HMP rotation up in Duncan, so I'll be there for a year, and then move out to somewhere else. It's just going to be a huge adjustment going from Austin to Duncan. Slow broadband, bad cell phone service.. just that whole small town feel thing. I need more chaos! But I'm sure I'll get a lot of work done, and maybe lose all my white hairs. Nice picture on the webcam, by the way.

I grew up in a small town 25 miles from Duncan. Passed thru Duncan about 200 times over the years. I don't have any good news for you. Duncan is as bad as you suspect. I live in Norman, Ok now, about 1 hour away. With the university atmosphere, Norman would probably remind you of Austin in many ways. I've been trying to think of "interesting new activities" you could get involved in but -- . You'll be going back about 20 years in time when it comes to technology. If the weather is good you can go 30 miles east or west and hike around the Wichita or Arbuckle mountain areas. Thank God for the internet and UPS.
Find a girlfriend and see what she recommends for entertainment.
You'll probably have to make do with nerds at Haliburton. Good luck, Hope the time passes quickly.
BTW if you do figure out a good way to spend your time let me know too!

Heh- no problem with Halliburton. I'm pretty sure that I'll like my job!

And Nick- thanks for the uplifting comments. I'll let you know if I find a cool spot around that area. I'm only going to be there for a year (as of now) so it won't be too bad.. There's a few of us coming into the same program, and we're all from big cities, so I'm sure we'll figure something out.

Maybe I'll just go hang out in Norman and see how all you OU folk handle a bleedin' orange Longhorn at home base! (probably not a good idea heehee)
