I couldn't figure out what he meant. Where do I put this? I'm not too savvy on networks and firewalls.

C:\RC5\dnetc.ini
keyserver= ********

If you want to do some testing i have a zip file served up you can install that will set you up to my pproxy. That way we could see what you are doing and i already have the IP inserted.
ZIP file
this is for testing only and you can delete afterwards, not trying to recruit LOL

just LMK so I can be on the lookout. I am no networking expert either, so If that does not work you will have to wait for the experts to arrive would hate to see all that power go to waste

I had a problem getting my machines to work through the firewall at my work. I ended up having to use the SOCKS5 protocol to get things working. Here is the relevant part of my ini file:

[networking]
firewall-type=socks5
firewall-host=192.168.0.1:1080
encoding=
firewall-auth=
autofindkeyserver=no
keyserver=proxy.teamanandtech.com

Since you can browse the internet on those computers, then you should definately be able to connect to dnet or one of the TA proxy servers. Can you go into your control panel|internet options and see how your browser is connected to the internet? You should just have to use the same settings in the Dnet software.

Edit: I use a the product "Wingate" proxy server.

Hi everyone, thanks for the help so far.

I'll be having another crack at it in about an hour and a quarter. So if any of of you could help around then it would be much appreciated.

See you soon.

I'm back! I'm in the room and ready to go.

So, first things first, I'll try cpars' idea. So, I'll unzip into c:/RC5 and go from there...

Well, without knowing the proxy that is being used, I can only help so much. It would appear that port 2064 is closed though. I monkeyed a bit with mine to see what the ini file would look like when changing around some of the settings.
Under the networking heading in the dnetc.ini file, try inserting the following:

[Networking]
keyserver=24.248.233.118:80
nettimeout=5
autofindkeyserver=no
firewall-type=http
nofallback=true

Also, check your browser settings to see how you are connecting to the internet. For IE 5 and newer, it is under Tools-Internet Options, the click the connection tab and click the LAN settings button. That should give you the proxy settings. Let us know what they are, and we will try to give you the settings you need to have in your ini file.

If you get that one working and have full admin rights to all the machines, there is a program called "remote cows" that you can use to administrate/install all the rest of the machines, provided they are in the same domain/workgroup.

Hope some of this helps.

Ok, I didn't realize the port wasn't open yet.. I will give you my pproxy address to test then.

[Networking]
keyserver=209.84.64.160:80
nettimeout=5
autofindkeyserver=no
firewall-type=http
nofallback=true

Post and let me know if that works for you.

Thanks guys. The smart IT bastards around here stopped us from accessing the LAN settings. I can't look at any settings on the entire computer! You can't even change the mouse speed :|
But I outsmarted them by writing the LAN settings down while they were still available half a year ago . These numbers are from computers in another room but they should still be applicable to this room I suppose.

10.232.14.1

8080

That makes sense doesn't it?

Damn these PIII 667MHz comps are slow! Only 1.75 Mkeys/s
My Duron at 147 x 6 =882MHz goes at around 3Mkeys/s. Big difference considering little differnce in MHz. Ah well, the more the merrier.

WOOOOT!!!!!!!!

Ummm.. you need to get someone that has a non-revolving IP address on their proxy machine (like me) and use that for your proxy. I would suggest finding someone other than me to use, as my connection is going down for 3 weeks while they move my line from the old place to the new one.

Something else to try with the ini file.. see if you can put this line

keyserver=slahrdzhe.teamanandtech.com:80

where you have

keyserver=209.84.64.160:80

If that works, post to let us know.
