theres nothing wrong with living in a decent trailer. my wife and i rented one before. only time i ever stayed in one. it wasnt a trailer park, but a neighborhood with trailers. i dont know if you can really seperate the 2, but most parks here have like 30 sandwiched on an acre lot. these were all on about a .5/acre of thier own placed on a state road. it was basically your normal neighborhood, but with trailers instead of houses. all of the were kept up, and we actually met some really nice and decent people the year we lived there.
we were renting a house with her cousin, but he skipped out on us, and left all his bills unpaid, so we had to go. pllus, we wanted to save for a house. the one we were renting was 550, and the trailer was 325/125deposit, so thats a decent chunk of savings to put back. i personally didnt want to, because i knew my wife would grow to hate it. but after a few "just wait, youll see"s, i agreed. we lived there for about 9mos, and then spring came. that year, the storms were particularly violent, but nothing too dangerous. until that fateful night...
it was about 2 am. i was up playing some tekken 3, and it started to rain. i was tired and figured that was a good time to hit the sack with the patter of the rain to help carry me to dreamland. i go to the bedroom, and i start the hear thunder and see some flashes of lightning, even better to help me sleep, i thought. change into my pjs, and the rain and wind get pretty intense. i look out the window, and the trees are thrashing and the rain is swirling. i can hear the wind whipping around the trailer and feel it pushing on it. that made me nervous, so i walk into the living room to get a better view. i look outside, and the rain is going sideways, and i start to hear a tapping on the roof, like hail. thats when i got scared. so i go to wake the wife, and i hear the wind start to make some awful howling noise and thats when i thought ok, time to get everyone gathered just in case. as im waking the wife, the wind got very loud, and the fvcking roof started to ripple and sound like one of those sheets of medal they use to make the sound effects of thunder. holy fvck its a tornado!! i yell at the wife to get up, and i run through the trailer, grab my daughter and my son, and we all huddle in the middle of the living room with me laying on top of them all. that roof rippled so hard and loud, and the trailer started shaking. then, the window was sucked out!! holy motherfvcker we gotta get out of this death box! as soon as i stood to grab everyone to get out, it all stopped.
it was barely sprinkling then, so i got out the check for more damage. almost all the skirting was gone on our trailer, and the one across the street had windows gone and some skirting taken out. turns out it wasnt a tornado, but a down blast(?) of wind. at least, no tornados were reported that night, and none picked up on radar.
2nd most scaries moment of my life, and we moved out 2 months after that.
