Anybody play Freelancer yet?

I've played it and it's absolutely awesome! I love this game! The missions are fun, but then going in and freelancing afterwords is just out of this galaxy!

I'm waiting for more people to finish the single player game so I have some people to challenge when doing multiplayer. So far the game is a blast.

Anyone else try it yet?

Well? What did you expect? It's a Microsoft game. They want you to use 100% pure microsoft products when playing their games.

Heck, I even had to uninstall some of my better audio codecs on my box just to allow the game to play sound just because my codecs weren't Microsoft certified codecs.

this control scheme is pretty impressive, i have a MS joystick but i stick with mouse and keyboard combo.

the game is pretty impressive, the story is compelling.

one thing i dont like is that when you have to gather money to advance to the next level, taking missions become boring because the missions are the same... they could have put more stories and effort and make them side stories.

damn..only if they'd use the joystick..it just feels more "natrual"..but i still use the mouse/keyboard...it's fine for me...

It's not that great. Honestly, besides a nice graphics job, they kinda blew it. The universe is hardly as 'interactive' as the developers made it sound. The radio transmissions get very repetatitve and so do the missions. It was fun, but gets old fast.

i played the demo, and it's pretty enjoyable. i thought the joystick deal was going to be a problem, but i found the keyboard/mouse controls very comfortable. i really like using the space bar to change "mouse modes."

fwiw, this game has coop multiplayer, LR, so you can play with others before beefing out your ride.

I have an MS Sidewinder and the demo doesn't let me bind controls to it...

I finished the single player game yesterday. My pilot info says I've been playing for 35 hours, and at that point I'd only owned the game for 48 hours. The game just sucked me in! I don't feel like I'm done either, seeing how I've explored less than ~30% of the universe and still have ships and technologies that I can't buy yet.

I'm not sure I see the long term potential of the multiplayer mode. I guess we will see, probably depends on who else is playing and what sort of servers are available. An evenly matched 8 on 8 battle royale in an asteroid field would be fun though!
