Hehe, brings back the memories, I played LORD, TradeWars, Usurper, and BRE all the time! Too bad so many people abused that 2 billion gold bug in LORD!

Trade Wars and LORD kicked ASS!! I remember the good old days of LORD. Waiting your turn each day so you can kill people in the field (the ones who didn't go to the Inn) and I remember breaking into people's room and killing them. Do you guys remember Violet? She kept kicking me in the nuts until I learned that she won't sleep with you unless you have enough charm points. LOL

wow.. this thread brings back nice memories.. of my old ibm ps2 386 20mhz with 2400modem.. hehe! i remember bre, sre, lord, trader wars, usurper, overkill.. also remember some bbs used to have games that let u gamble for online time.. what a concept.. limited time for connection.. makes me wonder what ever happened to all those boards i used to connect to.. i still have an old backup of 'telemate' the dos comm program with all the bbs numbers.. just for memories..

oh my goodness!! i just visited bbs.ufies.org... wow!! ansi graphics.. took my breathe away.. i'll join it out tomorrow.. should stop procrastinating on studying now..

hehe, i use to time it so that at 12:30 midnight i'll log into the BBSes so i could take the first turns of the day in games like BRE, Trade Wars, Global Wars, etc.

Those were the days.

Serious flashback... How about time share with a local school system. Dial up and connect with a handset and a 300 baud modem (upgrade from a 150) with a tv terminal emulator and 9 pin line printer. Almost all games written in basic (most all of them), pascal, fortran, or some type of machine language. Star Wars, Star Trek, Math Games, Civil War, and Quiz Show - man did I burn up a lot of boxed paper and ribbons in those days. Threw the thing in a loop one time with a math equation - ran from Friday afternoon until Monday A.M. - they didn't like that one very much.

Those games were great.. I especially loved Usurper, FAR more complex, it actually took some brains to play instead of just blind luck or screwed-up ad-ons that would give you insane amounts of money. Tradewars and VGA Planets ruled too. Not to long ago I started playing these games AGAIN. There are still insane amounts of BBS's out there that run these through telnet. You just get the latest version of private Hyperterminal from www.hilgraeve.com and you can log straight on to these through the internet and get back to the good 'ol days. Easy as pie! If anyone needs help doing it, drop me an email and I'll help ya out.

P.S. I know it's bad etiquette, but it was great fun to get like 5 characters in usurper and team up and just go nuts.. took a damn lot of time each day though .. hahah

My strategy with LORD or T-LORD was to logon at 11:59pm and try killing everyone..I remember it so well..Every night at like 12:30 all my turns would be up and I would be done and I'd have to wait until tomorrow @ 11:59 to try again...I have sort of an online friend who's still into all of that and he runs a board, and actually just finished a while ago creating his own BBS server software..It's great software. Runs in Windows, and I think it only does telnet. But anyhow, it has the look and feel of a MBBS or WG board, and it's very easy to setup. It's also very cheap to buy it. So go take a look: www.jaegertech.com. And I believe his demo bbs system is up at: bbs.jaegertech.com ( telnet there )...If you would like a really good telnet client, check out www.telnet98.com, much better than hyperterminal.

Tele-Arena lol, I remember playing that one quite a bit. There was big competition between the people dialing in from our local BBS and another group from right on the other side of Lake Michigan, in Michigan. I got ganked in the Mino dungeon hundreds of times when I started out lol.

The other big one I remember playing quite a bit was Galatic Empires.

I sold my first x86 computer to an avid MUDD player in 1998. He didn't care that it had an IBM P150 CPU (Cyrix-made 133MHz) and a 33.6K modem.

Now its called WOW

I've always wondered if there was a Hezbollah version of minesweeper where you get points for blowing up on your first move.
