Anybody here not yet turned in their car and on the fence about the emission modification?

Anybody turned in their car and took the payout? What did you replace the diesel with?

Or lastly anybody elected to receive emissions and their existing car and not turn the car in?

I elected to buy a used 2015 Golf TDI Sportwagen with the emission fix. Found it with all the features I wanted. Sunroof, manual transmission, heated seats, bluetooth upgraded sound system etc... On a car with 10K mileage. Pretty happy with my purchase (and the price) and going to return my 2009 Jetta TDI. That car has served me well at 193K miles on the odometer and no major issues yet. The newer car is really nice to drive, is a huge upgrade in terms of comfort, features, appeal and gets even better mileage. I can get 52-54 mpg normally and over 60 mpg (if I drive like a grandma) on my commute home whereas my old car would normally see 45 and perhaps 50 if I babied it.

I still have an 04 jetta wagon tdi sitting in my driveway but it isn't covered by this scandal. It has been parked since developing a sticky solenoid in the transmission and I replaced it with a newer focus. I've had all the parts to fix it for a year+ but can't get off my butt to do it.

Just bought a CPO 2015 TDI Sportwagen S with a manual last week. I really like it so far. The engine is fantastic.

Took the money and leased an i3.

The VW dealership we used was stunningly unapologetic about corporate having fucked over their customers. One sales guy explicitly said the whole issue was BS.

Wow, a car salesman lying. Who would have ever thought it was possible.

We bought a 2014 Audi Q7 TDI. VW still thinks they an fix our vehicle...so our only option at the moment is to take the restitution payment. Looks like the previous owner signed up in time (by last May), so we are only getting a portion of the payout. 8.4k from VW and $750 from Bosch.

We traded in a 2013 Toyota 4Runner with 75k miles for this 2014 Audi with less than 35k on it (wife wanted 7 seats). Essentially this trade has cost me virtually nothing other than time. Of course maintenance will cost more for the Audi over time.

If VW does not come up with a fix that passes EPA and CARB tests (and has no adverse effect on performance) by October, they have 90 days to get it fixed. Every 30 days of those 90 days that they take to get the fix passed, I get another $500. If they still fail, then they will be forced to offer a buyback that is at least 57k for my vehicle (range is 57k-65k for my vehicle/year/trim).

We like the car. The diesel is amazingly smooth for being a diesel (although still not nearly as nice as a good gas engine). The mileage is amazing for the brute of a vehicle that this thing is. The car has also been quite functional. We really do like/want to keep the car...but if they offer me 57k+ for it...we will take the offer.

My 2000 TDI with 250,000 miles is my daily driver. Love the torque, love the mileage (43 - 44) for in town only driving, upper 50's on the road at 70+MPH.

A friend sold his 2010 TDI Golf back to VW for some insane amount of money (over 80% of the new price), not bad for a 7 year old car, plus he is still waiting on rebates/refunds from some of the suppliers that provided parts to VW.

Another friend had her 2015 Jetta 'fixed', and says she can't tell the difference in performance or mileage. She is a 'driver' and chose manual transmission.

wow 57k and more for a 3 year old SUV. They really retain their value. Would you consider a new Q7?

Just to be clear, that is the value VW has assigned the vehicle as of Sept 2015 when this whole debacle went down.

Wife really loves the Q7...so if we sell this one back to VW...it will certainly be high on the list. Possibly try the newer generation model if I could find a good value CPO.

The lowly VW engineer just got royally shafted. He got bigger sentence than prosecutor asked for!
