anybody using artic silver have any comments?

i have an asus cusl2 and i just updated the asus probe to v2.12.05 and realized how hot my processor was running.. oops.. guess the previous versions were faulty and off by 10c!?? it's about 50c when i'm doing seti and idling at 36c (according to the new asus probe.). anyways, being a compulsive shopper and deeply concerned about the heat, i bought some artic silver since everybody raves about how great it is. i was just wondering if anybody wants to tell me their comments about this stuff while i wait for my shipment to come..

its far better than the radio shack termal grease,which cakes at high temps.Thats why as is better,it still remains in its original state at high heat.

Well, my artic silver arrived today. When I pulled the cpu to apply the AS, I noticed that the Radio Shack stuff was all dried out. Of course, my voltage could have something to do with that..... No crash yet tonight.

i don't have any comments for the artic silver, but i'm wondering...how much does it cost for how many grams? How much is shipping for one of these tubes?

First time ever i used a generic thermal paste (is thermal paste the same as thermal grease/thermal compound?) it says it never dries up...never tested it but...
what happens if i just apply a gunk of it on the cpu and set my heatsink on it(that's exactly what i did)? ... i didn't realize but i notice some people saying it's not a good idea to put too much...i think i put too much...i applied some pressure...how much pressure is needed? how possible is it that i have air holes?

There are two main types of thermal pastes on the market: (1) The silicon-based one, which may dry with time and higher temperature. (2) Type 44, non-silicon-based, which has much better thermal characteristics than (1) and higher resistance to caking.

I haven't tested the AS, but plan to do that soon.
