Was it worth the $20 price tag? Hows the loudness? I received a carbon fiber faceplate for my 360 and since I still have $14 credit at game crazy, I thought I'd pick one of these up to o with the whole car theme.

I believe that's the one that is supposedly killing the xbox360s...

Actually, I'm sure it's the one... Microsoft won't honor your warranty if it kills it either... I think there was an article on Gamespot or Gamespy about it.

I've read that it was only a certain early batch and the issue has been resolved.

But why even risk it? Especially since microsoft won't honor your warranty.

The only way MS would know is because some of the early batches would overheat or something and leave scorch marks on the back of the box.

That doesn't seem to be happening anymore.

I am at a loss to understand why anyone would buy a cooling device that hasn't been demonstrated to do any good, and HAS been demonstrated to fry some consoles.

I have one and it works fine. There is a weird issue where sometimes the unit will turn on at full speed when the system turns on. To fix it, you need to turn the console off, turn the switch in the back of the Intercooler off and then turn the Intercooler back on and then turn the console on. Note that I haven't had this happen ever since I moved my XBOX 360 about a month ago?

It has been shown to take down temps by up to 10 degrees.

It's actually been shown (over at Hard) to lower temps by 10 - 15 degrees, but yes, it does fry consoles occasionally.

It's been tested, and it does lower the temperature of the xbox components, and most of the xbox problems have been caused by overheating.

Personally, I rely on my warranty, but I certainly wouldn't rule out an intercooler to extend the life of my system.

Edit: I should read the whole thread before posting.

Well it's either this or a pelican VGA adapter so that I can upconvert my dvds. But I've also heard that the image is fuzzier with the vga adapter. Damn these accessories that do little or no good....

VGA is clearer, but more washed out with the 360. I have tested both on multiple 360s and screens. But I was using the ?official? VGA cables.

Cooler does make a pretty big heat decrease but there is the warranty issue and the slight possibility it will fry your 360.

I have used a 360 with and without the cooler, both are fine. Mine are not launch 360s though. If your room is normally 70C or cooler I wouldn?t worry about the heat.

DONT BUY THE PELICAN ADAPTER.

It sucks for one monstrosity of a reason. No Optical Out.

So enjoy your high rez with no 5.1 sound. Its such a killer. Only the MSFT vga adapter has an optical out.

A friend of mine has it. It seems to work alright. Worth the $20? Dunno.
