My sister is trying to figure out where to have my nephew's birthday party. I suggested Chuck E Cheese but she said she heard a story about creepy pedos hanging out there staring at kids.

Anyone know if that kind of thing really happens?

I was at Chuck E Cheese once and some short, fat, balding, and creepy guy walked in. Said something about wanting to "try the pizza," but I don't know, it seemed VERY odd. Before I knew it, he was walking out, saying something about needing to pass some popcorn out at his job.

Haven't been to one in a long time. Creepy pedos are everywhere. I doubt the percentage is any higher at CC. CC is a zoo though. Fun for youngish kids, but torture for adults.

We had our kids' bday party there. It was fine - you have to come through a gate. The only thing is the kids are all spread out and doing their own thing so it's not really a get-together and have fun event until the very last 30 mins at the table.

The thing about Chuck E Cheese is the employees pretty much all hate their job with a passion. It's not so much the kids everywhere, it's all the noise-making arcade games they have to listen to in repetition hour after hour after day after day after month after month after year after year.

Adults are allowed in. Since all the games are one token and tokens can be bought in bulk for $0.10 or less, I can imagine certain types (e.g. ATOT millionaires) being attracted to the place.

The CC by me is disgusting food but they find the play ground a lot of fun. However, it's a narrow window of the appropriate age. Too young - get hurt or can't negotiate, too old - lack of peer interest, too big. I'd say peak age is 5.
Parental supervision is like any playground outside. Never saw crepes.
You know, an outdoor playground with a few pizzas is a much better idea. Don't know your area but it happens all the time here. It's not about where you go but whom you're with ...

Not sure how they can get in without a kid... they mark your group with that ink now, and they wouldn't let people without kids in.

On the other hand, there are creeps in malls, creeps in parks, creeps on the road, and even creeps in the forums.
