oh yeah, golden gate park... you can rent a bike and kinda ride around to see the sites... is it sites or sights??

anyhow.. it's hard to think of what to do in san francisco, when you were born here and do that sorta stuff normally.. i mean i wouldn't recommend you come check out my office or take a drive in crappy traffic... although experiencing bay bridge traffic at rush hour is an experience in itself..

If you have a car, go up to Point Reyes and the check out the seashores only approachable by hiking trails.
Check out Monterey if you can drive down south a bit. Carmel has its own allure. I love Point Sur beyond Carmel.

i hope they have some good deals at frys when i get there !

well:

campbell - egyptian - very small store
palo alto - wild west - not that great of a store
san jose - mayan - allright, but an hour away from SF
sunnyvale - the history of tech - one of the biggest
fremont - i have no idea what the theme is - one of the biggest

go to the one in sunnyvale. that's the best one. i mean i lived in san jose and i always drove to the sunnyvale one because it was easier for me to get around. (and well i used to work at the sunnyvale one right after high school.)

Just to help you avoid any future embarassment, SFO refers to the airport and not the city itself.

Fremont has a pretty big Fry's but I believe the Sunnyvale one is still bigger. Sunnyvale one is probably the best one IMO. I still love going there.

ahh, the Tenderloin. I lived there for almost 2 years brushed up against it at Post and Leavenworth. such memories. remember, if the hookers are out during the day, they are most likely men.

That's neat.

There are two websites I know of that have Bay Area restaurant/entertainment reviews.
http://www.yelp.com
http://www.jatbar.com

Yelp is a website limited to just SF that has restaurant reviews, bar reviews, theatre reviews, etc. Basically anything related to living in SF they'll have a review of it.

Jatbar is a strictly a restaurant review site that encompasses all of the Bay Area.

Hope this helps and I hope you have a great time here in the Bay Area.

you like museums? I found SF Moma, Asian Art Museum of San Francisco and Golden Gate National Recreation Area to be nice but you have a lot to choose from.

oh, and yes, you should definately go to in-n-out... get a double double with grilled onions.. tasty! there's one in daly city... there's also one by the microcenter and frys in sunnyvale...
I believe it's called a double-double animal style.
Animal style = pickles.
In-N-Out Super Secret Eyes Only Classified Menu for locals only.

When I was in San Diego, animal style = drowned in grilled onions and thousand island. It was pretty good, but I don't think I can order it again

I believe that exploratorium, the zoo and the aquarium is free this coming Wednesday or the first Wed. of every month. I also believe that another popular tourist attraction is also free the first Tues. of every month. Hit the website of each place you plan to visit to double check.

San Francisco is a wonderful place and tourism is our no.1 industry here in northern Calif. PM if you need any info or my own personal bias opinions.

Yup, in the Tenderloin
Linky

Spend a day walking around Haight Ashbury and a night in North Beach. If you can, forget about driving (because parking sucks) and just take Muni. If you're around on Sat, check out the farmer's market at the Ferry Building (or go on a weekday and take advantage of happy hour).

A large knife, a firearm, or both are highly advisable if you intend to traverse the tenderloin on foot at night.

No, seriously.

There's no "address" for Chinatown as it spans many city blocks.

Generally speaking, Chinatown is west of the Embarcadero and north of Union Square. To get to Chinatown from the Embarcadero, you should walk uphill (away from the Bay) on either Washington, Clay, or Sacremento Streets. Once you pass Kearny street, you'll be entering into the heart of Chinatown.

From Union Square, you can walk north on Stockton street through the tunnel to get into Chinatown. Once you pass through the tunnel, you'll be in Chinatown.

Lastly, Portsmouth Square and the dragon gate are popular Chinatown landmarks. Portsmouth Square is bordered by Kearny, Washington, and Clay Streets. The dragon gate is on Grant Avenue and Bush Street. There are a lot of touristy shops on Grant Avenue so that would be a good place to start at if you're in to that kind of thing.

Watermelon Wheat Beer at 21st Amendment Brewery, on 2nd between Brannan and Bryant. It will seriously be the best beer you will ever have.
