Anyone been to the Czech Republic?

Mainly I'm just curious as to what to expect, what it was like, the people, the food, language, etc.

I won't be alone but rather meet up with a person in Prague who would show me around and also I believe let me stay for a couple nights. Otherwise I probably would not be going there.

I've heard Prague is a beautiful city, but I don't really know much about it.

I'll be going to Europe as part of a study abroad program and will know a little German. Will be doing another German course whilst there.

at the moment no, I'm not 100% positive that I will be going so I'm just trying to get a general idea of the place. I've been to parts of Europe before, Spain & England, but never to the more eastern parts.

Just got back a couple of weeks ago, was a great time with the fiancee. Both had plenty of things we each liked, so Prague should suit most people's interests. Lots of cool architecture, museums, historical places, opera, ballet, great food, even better beer...not particularly expensive either. Between the two of us we speak 5 languages fluently, but were able to get by just fine in just English...though we made an effort to learn the basic thank you, please, bathroom, etc. Only time we had any language issue was buying a 5-day metro pass, but a young lady in line behind us helped us out. As a whole, a very nice place to visit.

Prague was fun, venture outside of the main square where the clock tower is as its more expensive with american food and beer, with our pricing. Venture just outside and you will get a better taste of what its about. The major thing with Prague i found is people are out to take advantage of you. IE Taxi drivers. If you dont find a legit company people will pull up and overcharge the sh!t out of you. Sometimes youre desperate and cannot find another taxi but try your best to stay away. We stayed in a hotel and it wasnt expensive at all. Take the tour up to the castle its beautiful up there. Also beer and clubs are a great time for a college student.

Word. Spent a week in Prague and the surrounding area last year and I loved it. Probably my most favorite city in Europe.
