I still haven't completely converted over to digital music. Mainly because my car doesn't have any inputs or a way to play MP3 cd's. And I've never found an MP3 player that I like. But also, I like to physically have something in my possession when I buy music. I figure that if I'm going to pay $10-12 to download an album, I may as well pay $10-12 and have a CD that I can easily rip myself. That being said, where have you guys found the cheapest place to buy CD's? Amazon doesn't seem too cheap, still listing things for $15 and up (obviously depends on the title). The website I used to like buying them from has gone under, so has BMG. Any recommendations?

good choices. where did you buy them? i used to love borders as well, because they had a fairly large selection, with listening stations, and most of the time you could find them for ~$10 on sale or with coupons they're always throwing around. but borders has also drastically reduced their cd section.

never have, never will.

While I enjoy music, I've never enjoyed it beyond what the radio will provide.

occasionally.

I listen to some bands that aren't widely known enough to be on mainstream file sharing networks and that I like enough that I want to give them money.

Once I went Zune Pass I never went back. I can always burn any of the music to a CD for my car, I've got same issue as you with no inputs.

I still only buy music on CDs, I've purchased at least 20 in the last 3 months.

They get FLAC archived and recoded to MP3 for portable use. Playback at home is from the FLAC.

I would not buy anything less than FLAC, and if I'm paying anything more than 50% of the physical CD I'd rather just buy the CD.

New mainstream CDs are generally discounted at B&Ms during their release week. Other than that, I can only offer the few online discounters (DeepDiscount, etc.) which are not really that great a deal.

I've had pretty good luck with used discs from Amazon/half/ebay.

People are getting rid of their physical music collections all the time now. A guy at work claimed to have thrown out all his cds a few weeks ago, we all just looked at him like WTH, we would have taken them!

I also have enlarged my CD collection via eBay but you don't find many recent releases there - at least not at a decent price.

I buy CDs occasionally. When Borders had a rewards credit card I bought a lot of them. Now I mostly buy downloads. I buy used CDs at a local store.

This week I bought:

Massive Attack's Mezzanine
Sublime's Sublime
Fear Factory's Obsolete

I buy CD's all the time. I buy them on Amazon, but if there is a cheaper site by all means let me know.

Last CD I bought was in 1998, Limp Bizkit, Three Dollar Bill Y'all. Had 1 or 2 good songs, the rest shit. Paid like $15 dollars for 2 songs. Hate full album purchases for this. I just buy single songs on itunes or rhapsody or walmart. If I want full albums I'll get them off IRC.

I'm not real picky and can't tell the difference between CD quality and 192 kbps mp3, so I don't have a reason to waste money on full albums when half the songs blow.

I think the last CD I bought was in 2004. Although I have been meaning to buy another copy of the Natural Born Killers soundtrack

I buy CD's of old blues artists---mostly because their stuff isn't available in digital format.

My next car however will have bluetooth stereo- so all my songs on my Droid will be streamed to the car, so no CD's.

For those that still typically purchase CDs... why? I kept buying CD's because I had no MP3 player, but now that I stopped I realized I don't need an MP3 player to take advantage of downloading music. It's much much cheaper and I can burn any music to CD that I want to use in a CD player.

The reasons I buy CD's:

-Quality. I know I'm paying for the best quality, as opposed to a compressed file. Being able to tell the difference is irrelevant.

-Simplicity. Nothing beats popping the CD in the CD player and just sitting back and enjoying the music.

-Phisical ownership. I want something tangible, and that includes the booklet, which is a key part of the experience of owning music.

I had been in the habit of buying several used CDs off of Amazon at the start of every semester, where even if it sucked I was usually only out a few bucks. I don't buy music at all anymore (or download it for that matter), I just listen to what I already own.

Not since...1999? No use for a cd anymore. Wife bought the latest Twilight soundtracks on CD.
