Anyone dealt w/ Intel directly?

Hey guys I got my P4 3.0 ghz to find that a pin was missing and my comp wasn't posting. (dunno if i knocked it out or what not.) Anyways, I talked to Intel and shipped it to them (said they might potentially replace it). Question is: Has anyone dealt w/ them over similar issues and had luck with getting a new CPU? Thanks guys.

I've RMA'd 2 CPUs to Intel over the years. Both times it went real smooth and I had a replacement back in about 3-4 days after they received the bad CPU.

I broke off one the little black thing on the pic off my xeon cpu and I told them it came like that off a retail box and they rmaed it and gave me a new one. Pretty fast

Back when i was doing builds in my job i had three bad mobos from them. I thought it was like the Spanish Inquisition when i called as they wanted to know how i knew the boards were bad, etc, etc and they wouldn't shut up. They only stopped nagging when i mentioned that the other 25 boards i had on my desk all worked...

But the worst was Tyan; don't ask though.

Intel will pick your brain about your motherboards, install, etc. but be firm and just answer the questions with yes or no answers when possible. Tell them only what's necessary, and you should have no problems getting a replacement cpu.

How do you get a RMA.

I have a P3 chip that went bad and is a retail one but it is over a year old and the onlt thing I have is the CPU and Heatsink?

yea he did but hell it is a very smart thing to do and intel still makes plenty of money.
i had a few defective celeron from intel in the past and didnt know how to rma them

You should go to the biggest house in your area and break in and steal their TV. They still make plenty of money, what's it matter?
