anyone drink bourbon whiskey

tired of the same old jim beam and lookin for somethin different around $20-25.was just seeing if anyone had any good suggestions,oh ya and i usually mix it with coca cola but i guess if its smooth enough id drink it straight also

I got to see the Rolling Stones play at Toad's Place, a small club in New Haven CT. They were preparing for the Steel Wheels tour here and there were rumors that they were going to hit Toad's as a thank you for the hospitality. One of the clubs owners/managers was spotted buying Rebel Yell at the package store down the street and the rumors were assumed to be true as the only reason he'd buy Rebel Yell at a package store rather than through their distributor was as a last minute thing to take care of Keith Richards as it was his favored brand. Word spread, people in on the rumors showed up that night and lo and behold, Stone show in a small club. That was 1989, so RY has been north of the Mason-Dixon line for at least 25 years.

is redemption rye any better then Bulleit.ive never drank rye but Bulleit's rye actually sounded kinda good from what i was readin about it

If you can afford ~$40-$50ish, then go for Woodford Reserve, Knob Creek or Bulleit (skip Makers Mark).

This is correct. If you're going to mix it, don't even waste your money on something nice.

Otherwise, Jim Beam Black Label is really good. So is the Woodford people mentioned. I like Basil Hayden's too.

Those would probably be my favorite bourbons.

I heard Booker's was really good, but I haven't tried it yet. It's a little more expensive.

Old Forester is my favorite bang/buck bourbon. Knob Creek for a bit more money. Leave the Coke in the fridge. It doesn't belong in bourbon.

Haven't had Bulliet myself so I can't say. The redemption rye is actually pretty smooth when drinking with Cola.

You might as well get some Evan Williams, Ancient Age or the like. IIRC, AA is made in a 101 proof version, as is/was Old Grandad. Old Crow is also a cheap option.

Regarding the Jim Beam-budget options....surprised nobody has mentioned Jack Daniels or George Dickel.
